I think the thing to not dating anyone but another surfer isn't that they can sesh with you, sh!t i'd hate that.

In my opinion its that they should understand that normal life duties get postponed upon the news of a good swell.

That's what has held me back from dating another surfer.. I'm a happy 3 to 4ft kind of gal, 5ft (on a nice sunny summer day) is my max so he'll have to fly solo while I tan on the beach  haha

Yeah my earliest dawn patrol where I was actually in the water was probably 7am so I can relate with her there!

No I didn't end up getting it, I thought of holding off because I want to learn how to snowboard this year so I figured I'd put that money towards snow gear.

It's still up for sale so maybe I'll buy it on impulse randomly (ha) but really I just couldn't find any other reviews or info on that model so I figured I turn to the SI crew.

there was one out a week or so ago in ocny; she could actually surf.
except; she was on a longboard.
i was tempted to say wtf - what other talents are you wasting?
but i didn't cause of course its none of mine. and had never seen her before.

Words from a vet; young'uns like Hawkheart & other buoys who are thinkin' to put a ring through your nose, er, on your finger might pay heed to Unky2B

Holy crap yes. You just described in perfect detail surfing with my wife. After years of this, I now tend to just go surfing for a few in the early morning hours then come back and pick her up for a session.

SI has become my own personal couples therapy. Thanks ya'll.

Caroline, buy my snowboard off of me. I ski, quit boarding years ago, and thought I would pick it up last year---no go. Its wicked small (152 I think). Burton Shaun White, whom I want to bludgeon but the board was on super close out special when I bought it. Primo bindings and such. I also have brand new boots--dude's 8-9s. They say its best to learn in dude's 8-9s no matter what... Thats what THEY say. Make me an offer. I can deliver to RI on Tuesday night. I am working in Foxboro Tuesday and maybe Wednesday.

Oh sweet! I don't know anything about bindings  and even though what they say I'm feeling the boots are going to be too big, ha. Could you please post pics of the board - I'd like to see what it looks like. Thanks!

Caroline... forget the snow gear.. buy a new surfboard and a winter suit if you don't already have one... then surf.. surf and more surf. Also.. not sure where you're from and what is your local shop but go there and ask for advice. If they are a quality shop with stand-up guys then they won't try and sell you a board you don't belong on.. yet.

U2B, bro SI is the place for ALL therapeutic outlets - especially medical advice.

You hitting the mountains anytime soon? Only Killington and the River had any trails open last I checked. I'm stoked to go soon and see if my progress in surf and skate has indirectly helped my snowboarding lol

I live 30 minutes from Killington. Spare bedrooms and a fridge full of beer. Dog friendly fenced in yard too. PM if you're headed up this way.

Killington is the only one open. We just got a few inches at 1000' and it hasnt stopped in the mountains. Why Jay isnt open yet baffles me, though in two weeks time I might be able to snag backcountry turns off the gap roads.
