Yep, they just started selling online. I haven't used mine yet, but there looks to be plenty of opportunity this weekend to give them a try. I'll post as well, after I use them.
Guys, I tried the Surf Ears plugs this evening. They let in more sound then the mack's plugs, but still muffled the hearing a fair amount. It did a good job of keeping my ears dry. The only problem, and this is a big problem is when I got lipped in the head, I lost the plug. So, ya, one session, and that $60+ I paid is gone. The plug that fell out didn't quite fit as good as the other side, but I think its not fail safe for taking lips to the head.
I have issues with water getting trapped in my ears, so if I can find good plugs, I'll wear them all year.
Thanks for clarifying. I do know that plugs are better than not no matter what the temp. For those who don't get trapped water in the ear so often, is the typical vinegar-alcohol mixture pre and post-sesh still recommended in the absence of plugs?
I actually just came on here to get an update on these new earplugs. That is a bummer. anyone else have any feedback? im going on month two with my sorkys and am very impressed so far. they have shown no signs of falling out even during some pretty nasty wipeouts. i havent had any water in my ears so far and can still hear!
I sent a message to Surf Ears, and they said I was the first person to tell them they lost them in the ocean and said I was probably not wearing the right fit and I do agree with them. They said they were going to send me a replacement, but I haven't seen it yet.
Meaning, you had them in the wrong ear or backwards? Every christmas, I would paddled out with a Santa Hat on in OB. I would create a little shoestring leash for it and hook it to the top of my back zip... Maybe you can do the same with your earplugs =) Use a little fishing line and hook em up.
Will try mine at AI on Sunday, even though it's going to be pretty small out there. After that, will try my SurfEars in SoCal in July, France in September. If they stick around that long.
so whats the verdict everyone on Surfears??? im in the market for a new pair. ive been using my sorkys for several months now. they seem to work well when im not getting tossed around in bigger surf. after yesterdays cane swell im sitting here at work almost deaf due to so much flushing, so i think its time to reinvest in something else soooooo give me your reviews. thanks.
Im thinking about buying some surfears too, since i recently got surfers ear in both ears. $60 is steep for things you put in your ears. Are they worth it? Maybe i could put a little super glue or something on some string and attach it to the earplugs so I don't loose them. Anyone think thats possible?
so whats the word , are these ear plugs worth the money . I know si min said he lost one , did they send you a replacement ?
i picked up the surfears in early september. best purchase yet when it comes to earplugs. highly recommend. does a really good job of keeping water out. still allows you to hear, although you definitely do lose a bit hearing with them in, but i can still have a conversation and hear stuff going on around you. never even came close to having one falling out and ive surfed several solid overhead sessions with them.
I like mine, too. I usually don't talk to so many people in the water, just hey how ya doin & rock on. Like SJerz stated, good ear plugs.
