Hey archy, are you interested in agriculture? If so, you should have a look at The One Straw Revolution by Masanobu Fukuoka. There's a newish edition with a preface by Wendell Berry. Based on your posts here, you might enjoy it.

Irvine Welch is a god. I almost bought a shirt once that said "got Nabakov?" Martian Chronicles. Anything by Bradbury. Douglas Adams is a goo pick me up. Hitchhikers was great but the dirk gently wholistic detective stuff was legendary.
Drown by Albie Cullen, sex, drugs, rock, roll and murder http://www.amazon.com/Drown-Albie-C...1416524967&sr=8-1&keywords=drown+albie+cullen

Definitely read What We Talk About When We Talk About Love, then read Beginners, it'll blow your mind.
Thanks! To this day if I am driving and I'm lost (and I have time to kill) I follow someone who looks like they know where they're going. Surely I will end up somewhere... worth noting: they made a British tv show on dirk. It was poorly received. Last I checked it wasn't available here though one could probably watch it online.
Any books from: Khaled Hosseini (e.g. The Kite Runner) Stuart Woods (Stone Barrington series) John Grisham Dan Brown (Deception Point is my favorite) James Patterson Greg Mortenson - Three Cups of Tea Noah Levine - The Heart of the Revolution: The Buddha's Teachings on Forgiveness, Compassion, and Kindness. This book really opened my mind up to Buddhism. A great read from a man who had his life changed from Buddhism.
Lately I've been reading a lot of Barbara Tuchman as I'm into military history/world history. Before that I was on a heavy Bill Bryson kick with the gem being A Walk in the Woods. He has a dry, witty style. For anyone into sci-fi I highly recommend the Ender's Game series by Orson Scott Card.
I have a friend who is immune to rabies... bit by a rabid bat and took the series of shots. I keep trying to get him to stick his hand in various animal holes.... hehehe...dens. Palahniuk's Snuff is pretty messed up too.
In the Spirit of Crazy Horse by Peter Matthiessen Events in the book are from 40 year ago. What applied to Native Americans then, applies to ALL OF US now.
