i think summer is swelltime for the south shore (waikiki island of Oahu) and offseason for north shore

  3. South shore gets swell during the summer months. Crowded and localism is always a big part. Ala Moana Bowls in front of the public parking next to the Hilton Villages is a super fun hollow wave. Try surfing by Diamond Head, or one of the other reefs in Waikiki.

good, consistent surf on the south shore in the summer... lots of crowds. Generally medium sized waves, with an occasional overhead swells. Ala Moana and Kaisers are really fun waves.

    yeah

South Shore during summer gets the southern hemisphere winter swells, so you should get some waves. Go surf Kaisers. Paddle out in the boat channel, you won't miss it if you look toward the Hilton Village. Fun waves right off the channel. Watch out for the ferry boat. There's a spot to the left of the channel also. Outside waikiki breaks if it gets big enough, Diamond Head is also there.

Dude.. You do know you just asked how the surf is on Oahu?? Do some research before you ask questions man. Hell my mother could answer this question for you, and she has never surfed in her life. Do you live under a rock??????

Leaving for school in honolulu in August, looking forward to actually having a swell to count on at least once a week. It will be a big change from here

South Shore and North Shore are way different. That's probably why he was asking.

South side gets pretty flat in the winter though, you'll probably have to drive somewhere when december comes,or take the bus(one of the best bus systems in the country, and I seem to recall that you can take a board.)however south side seems to always be rideable if you have a big enough board.

haha yes you definitely should be! I went last summer and I was on Kauai and the big island. Its just cool to be there because most of the people are either surfers or super laid back. the aloha spirit is definitely true because after being there for a week you start to talk like the hawaiians. make sure to befriend a local - you'll learn a lot!

And then there is also the east shore and the west shore. Way different both of those, too.

Ya man you're asking about Oahu, where surfing pretty much started. Duh there's waves therer year round. I went a few years ago in June and depending where i went it was anywhere from waist high much to about two feet overhead and hollower than most east coast waves. So, ya its not the north shore, but theres gonna be some fun spots whether your a novice riding a 9ft bz softtop or an expert.
