beware that place. THE TRAFFIC SUCKS, its wrong direction windy all-da-time and the surf breaks (with only
one or two exceptions) are 'c' grade compared to other hawaiian islands.

who gives a crap if someone rips or not? surfing is such a weird sport, or whatever you wanna call the activity we participate in. it's such an ultra g@y ego battle of who is the coolest ripper out there. the majority of decent surfers are ornery azzholes that hate each other...lol. a bunch of jaded, too-cool-for-school dooshers that wear a lot of flannel. just go surfing and shut up. if you're the guy having fun, behaving yourself, and not lying to yourself and others about your abilities, you're winning. that includes the guys who shred and the guys who are weekend warriors from PA or some God-foresaken place far from the ocean. nobody is making a living off of this sh'ite except for a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the freakishly talented and motivated surfing population of the world. the ASP guys ride the tater chips, paddle-out in anything, and can contort themselves on a wave in any condition. you're not doing that, and don't even bother trying to do that stuff. focus on your cutback first or something...lol. none of you are at that level, period, and probably none of you ever will be. or better yet, focus on your careers or something, or your education. surfing is the most efficient time waster in the world. lol. Merry Christmas.

LOL. Thanks! Oh, start playing guitar instead of surfing. I wish I would have devoted a fraction more of my time as a youngster playing more guitar. OK, I'm done here (dropping microphone).

agreed salt, but style, balls, and dedication count for something.
Honesty, I am mostly a working schmuck....but I have moments where I FEEL like a hero....

nothing other than surfing could do that for a work-a-day schlub like me. maybe fatherhood, or if I became a fireman or something, but the feeling i get counts for something...IT HAS TOO.....:)

It does. As long as you charged as hard as you could during your stint as a surfer, you'll have no regrets I guess. It's not a fruitless endeavor, entirely. Think about it...There's no other activity where you are using the Earth's energy to propel you across the surface of the ocean, and doing it in style. The closest thing I can think of is sailing a boat. That's pretty cool too. So that feeling, that thing that persists after a good session, is it just a bunch of endorphins and serotonin that came out of nowhere? Or, could it be that the energy that was transferred from the surface of the ocean to your body while riding a wave stimulated your nerve cells and adrenal glands to release the hormones? How does one make a hormone, you ask? That's easy, you don't pay her. All kidding aside though, that's what keeps us all coming back for more. Otherwise, why on Earth would someone don a 5 mil and freeze their azz off?

    And no you don't scoff.

When you shred you love the sport so much you will watch anything and anyone and enjoy it although you would do things differently most of the time.

I don't hide what I spend on boards, only purchases over 2k that involve cars or guns. Facts my man, easy to remember.

You've been taken to the wrong breaks baddy. There's more than a few quality waves. Albeit not as many as say Oahu, but if you know where to go you're getting the goods.

That being said yeah the wind sucks.

thats some wave...if you don't know it its about 2 or 3 outreefs to the west side of hookipa. and outside
the harbor also.....so yeah i take the 'c grade remark' back...
