tropical development off Africa?

    Its still a ways off, but the the models are pointing to some development from a tropical wave moving off Africa next week.

    Check out the Swellinfo North Atlantic Wave maps (zoom out). You'll see the GFS model (which swellinfo models are based off of), is pointing to a nice development storm approaching the windward islands by the end of next week.

    I can't emphasize enough, that these long range outlooks are never heavily reliable, but its certainly fun to look at. The tropical wave seems to have a good path towards us... so definitely keep an eye on this one.

    TD4 in the house. will likely become a named tropical storm in the very near future.

    For the last couple of days, the models were taking this storm straight into the leeward islands, but the latest GFS run (as seen on the swellinfo wave mpas) have this thing turning more north. This of course, would mean much more swell for the east coast.
