Ok. Cool. We cut up so much in here, that I got carried away.

It is kinda fun thinkin about the future. I mean, we've seen so much in the past 50 years. Paulie won't be around to see the next, but lots of y'all will.

I see breaks being set up like country clubs where you have to have a membership or accompany a member to surf there. If you poach, you get send to the NY maximum security prison from Escape from New York.

50 years from now. Foam gets replaced by ?

100 years from now. Living surfboards. Maybe droids, or could be genetically altered sea life. Droid would be easier to keep at home. Wouldn't need a fish tank. But a mermaid surfboard... Could make those long waits between sets interesting, or a pain if she talks too much.

I've been struck by how much surfing has changed in the past 20+ years, both in design and what was once thought impossible or pointless/showy (airs - now a regular part of any pro's repertoire). I'm also sure that in 15 years from today, there will be something(s) that I never expected, be it a new fin design or whatever. I think this may make a difference for your core surfer, the guy who is dedicated and surfs as much as he can. However, we will always have that great leveler -experience- keeping it in check for the masses. It's not easy to paddle out, catch a wave, pop up, and trim/turn. It's a steep learning curve, and takes time and commitment to get the basics down. No amount of technology will ever change that. And wave pools don't have sneaker sets, rips, undertow and such, so some kid in indiana may get the mechanics down, but know nothing about how to deal with a dynamic environment, something you gain with experience.

Whoa. Surfers prison. Years of hard labor, hand sanding wooden surfboards from raw trees to be used by the uber rich.

    Id say well done!

I would like to see some form of early 80s break regulation return tho.

Fortunately the ocean will remain as a self regulating entity. They could have their waves pools.

the future of surfing? more torn ACL's, broken ankles and blown out knees. Washed up 14 year olds talking about the good ole days when 540's were entry level moves.

But seriously, the future is now, check out how hard the little Ozzie groms are pushing/getting pushed 6 year olds doing huge laybacks and hacks!?! (RipCurl Grom Search)

Me too pumpy. Methinks it's inevitable given the current situation.

I see personal wave pools. Like having a little half pipe in your back yard, now I have a wave pool.

surfers will be looked to so as to help unravel the mystery of distant space travel.
such as riding sound/radio/light waves cause others don't know how.

    Yeah, livin droid boards.

    Various models.

The Halle Berry... Oh, Paulie... You were AMAZING on that last barrel... You REALLY shred the gnar...

Or, for those wanting a bit more robust feedback, the Yankee... You call that a FU**IN barrel, Sparky?!? You FU**IN WIMP! Get the F*** off me and don't come back til you got some REAL game!

    The possibilities could be limitless.

    Happy Festivus y'all.

    Yes.

Holy crap. After that Halle droid board, I got ads for condoms on here. The ones that are good for her, and make him last longer. This is just too funny. Gotta love the interwebs.
