Oh Bull Sh!T!!!! Everytime they say this is the best diet, it changes a year later. Remember when eggs were bad for you, then they were good for you, then bad agian, then... well I'm not even sure anymore if they are good or bad for you. Point is none of the "facts" about diets are "truth" becasue they get disproven or altered almost monthly. For all you guys looking for the next cool fad diet just eat healthy foods, excersise and do it all in MODERATION. This is the key to anything in life. To much to any extreme is bad in anything. Or eat like a caveman, throw tires around at Crossfit and enjoy yourself, makes no difference to me, I'm heading to Krispy Kreme for some donuts!
Um don't know what ur gettin at. I never mention anything about a healthy diet. Only pointing out bogus claims from the paleo gurus.
Fuk yeah they are useful. That's why 99.99% of all sporting associations ban the use of them. Also Sisson promotes HEALTH. I don't think the use of either is healthy.
I know you were not supporting the Paleo diet. What I'm getting at is you saying all you state are facts. There are no facts about diets as the accepted norm changes all the time. The only constant I have heard in 40 years on this planet is moderation, moderation, moderation. Your statement about you KNOW the TRUTH just further shows me how egotistical and closed minded you are. It seems if the Govt, Wall Street or any other mainstream organization is involved in something you think it's a conspiracy. A person with that attitude creates their own TRUTH and therfore is blinded from anyone's statements that are not domesday scenarios, comets hitting the earth, illuminati taking over the world and Monsanto is the devil BS talk. How the hell do you find the time to surf with all the research you do so you can argue your theories with folks on the intraweb? You must have calluses all over your finger tips from the novels you type on here (and I'm assuming on about a dozen domesday prep sites too) and from scrolling down pages of data on how evil the Corp and Govts of the world are. One last thing, do the tin foil undies bunch up and rip when the cool kids give you a weggie?
I don't know, sounds like another bandwagon to cater to folks with $ and who are starving (no pun) to be part of a new group. Just like crossfit, the general intent is good: staying healthy, exercising, etc. But some jokers are looking to exploit it.
Facts can be tricky. God I love Tina Weymouth.
Um yes there are facts based on sound peer reviewed peer approved medical research about healthy eating habits and health damaging foods and food additives. And it doesn't take a doctor or scientist to know that twinkles are bad for you. I surf a lot too. I mean a lot. I don't find the time to do other things in life I have the time. How do single moms raise 2 children work full time and get a college degree? Um I don't know. Maybe it's just a conspiracy theory. As for your other claims think what you want to think. Like I said I take you calling me crazy as a compliment. And BTW those claims that eggs are healthy we're based on research funded by the Egg Industry and have since been proved false misleading and poor science. Yet the Paleo gurus hold onto these bogus studies to promote their diet books and overpriced supplement market.
I just ate about 1200 calories worth of home-made chocolate chip cookies for breakfast. At lunch, I'm gonna swim about 40 laps in the pool. All is good.
Don't forget, there's three kinds of lies. Lies, damn lies, and statistics. Maybe we can add in industry-funded (biased) statistics as the fourth?
Archy I think you spend so much time thinking and debating about food because you are malnourished. We have had our debates and I do have a ton of respect for you. I do however think it's a little weird that you only come out of the woodwork for posts about food...maybe you should post on a food forum instead of a surfing one.
I actually appreciate his input (and the others as well). I posted the question here instead of a food/wellness/diet forum for two reasons: 1. I would likely get dissenting opinions 2. Opinions would be in the context of a surfing lifestyle Mission accomplished!
I was directing my post at archy. Sorry for the semi off topic post. Keep us posted with your progress.
Malnourished hahaha. Not laughing at you I'm laughing at your assumption. I eat a minimum of3500 calories a day. Surfing is my #1 passion and i post on some surf related threads but im also into nutrition and athletic performance and when the topic comes up I'm into it. I like the debate aspect of it because its an opportunity to possibly learn something. Food forums a pretty much one sided and all they do is exchange recipies. I really not into trolling on say a paleo forum. It's just pure hate when you go on a forum like that with an opposing view.
archy- You are really nitpicking here. It sounds like the only study you will accept is a double blinded, randomized controlled trial. And you want it done over a long period of time. Good luck with that, nearly all nutrition studies are observational studies. They all have flaws, but that doesn't mean there is nothing to learn from them. For example: the saturated fat and heart disease study - It doesn't necessarily 'prove' anything, but don't you think if saturated fat caused heart disease they would have found a relation after reviewing 21 different studies? Where is your study that proves low fat/high carb is healthy long term? And I don't know why you keep harping on Sisson and his intermittent fasting/calorie restriction. It has proven health benefits... what is the problem here? Re: Sisson's meal plan- 2500 calories/day is extremely reasonable, and Sisson will be the first to tell you to eat more if you very active.
no, i'm just thinking critically. something modern education doesn't teach anymore. I will say it again, that study was poor science funded by the dairy industry. it's been debunked. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ftoy6jqxm8 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/729433 I harp on Sisson bc I assume you know who he is/about and he's a major figure in this Paleo movement. I agree that fasting has some benefits such as detoxification, but I do not agree with the practice of intermittent fasting. all these Paleo experts use poor science to sell books and overpriced supplements. it's all about the $$$$ baby and has nothing to do with good health based on solid scientific evidence.
