Why does everyone have an issue with Rozsa?
He is one of the best surfers in the world and he doesn't have to surf contests for the $. Why would he try to make a living at something else. He seems to be doing ok with surfing.
His mother helps him so he can do his job. I know everyone gets jealous of people who's job is surfing, but that's what the kids call "haters"
How do we know he doesn't pay his mother for the time she puts in.
He lives in Oxnard not Malibu. It's not that much $ for a home.
Like Cep said, he was all fukked up a and got his sh!t together. I think that's pretty awesome

Thanks cepriano and nynj for connecting some of the dots, I'd like to see a more in-depth profile of the guy.

IMO the issue here is fluff - SURE you can knock up a trollop; spit out a baby, dump the work on others
and off to indo goeth ye. Rozsa is just a vehicle...

Here's a twist no one has brought up yet that I know is true in many "pro" surfers situations. Not Kelly, or Mick , or Medina pro, but the other "pro" guys pro. 99% of these guys have rich parents, grandparents/families that float most of their bills. The industry is tanking on all levels and the money ( from 1990-2000) most pros were used to isn't there anymore. I'd be surprised is these guys were clearing 45k a year. They get some money a month, some free ****, and a travel fund. It ain't enough to properly support yourself and a kid while gallivanting across the globe to shoot 3 minute video parts, and surfing twice a day everyday. There's other money elsewhere, guarantee it. Should come as no surprise that the lifestyles they're selling us are fake.

He's also got that blog "Salty Beard". I'm sure he can't live off of but at least it's got a full shop to pull in some money along with ads for his post-surf career.

my only beef with the whole thing is his Christmas morning quote. that should have had some more context

this lifestyle works for hardly anyone not in the .01% of the talent pool
and even that could be dropped as soon as the quarterly earnings look like something the corpo big wigs don't like

dp- Having kids is a huge decision so its a good thing that you and your wife are not rushing into it without a plan but trust me it is not all doom and gloom. Having kids is hard work of course but definitely not unmanageable. I think the biggest thing with unhappy parents is they are always looking at someone elses situation and comparing it to theirs. Yes when a couple or single person has a child that becomes their #1 priority but your circumstance and environment is what you make of it. I have 3 beautiful children and I would lay my life down for them in a heartbeat as I imagine most fathers would. The bottom line is if you have children you definitely won't regret it. Will your life become a lot more hectic? Yes. Will you wonder what the f you used to do with all your time? yes. Will it put stress on your relationship with your wife? yes but thats what we signed up for when we got married "for better or worse" and I think most couples forget about that worst part. The greatest gift you can give your children is to love their mother. Relationships take work and if you can work through the tough times often you will be rewarded with good times. What are the good times? When you come home from work and your kids come running up to you and give you a big hug because they are "truly" happy to see you. There really isn't a better feeling in the world to know that they look up to you, love you and depend on you to take care of them(even surfing). Plus your gonna need someone to take care of you when your all old and frail.

Thanks for the words of wisdom Socco. We definitely aren't going to have kids without a plan. I'm 33, soon to be 34 in April and my wife is 34 going on 35 in November, so the clock is ticking on us. We decided that once we get moved to our new home in Melbourne in October and get situated with our new jobs and have finances in order that we'll make a final decision on whether we're going to have kids or not.

If we decide yes then we'll need to hurry that process along as time is limited and if we decide no, then we always have the option to adopt at a later date or just choose to enjoy each other's company without kids and just have lots of dogs / pets along the way. IDK, we'll see how it goes in the next year and I'll report back if we happen to have a DPSUP Jr. :)

good luck in whatever you choose dp!........im also very aware of the fact that a lot of people can't have kids that truly want them so if you do have kids be thankful because they're definitely a gift!

Socco, I found this post both encouraging and challenging. Things have been a bit more hectic with a 3 year old and an 8 month old and I need to do a better job caring for my wife. I've found having kids is a trade-off between freedom and a profound joy that comes from watching them live. A lot of the time (especially lately) I miss the freedom. I wouldn't give up my kids for anything and I would gladly lay down my life for them. Raising kids is definitely nothing to jump into thoughtlessly. Good post, good reminder. Thank you.

HI !!! I've been lurking for sometime and I feel like I know all of you.

My walls are plastered with print-outs of your posts. I even got an artist to do renditions of what I think you guys look like. I like when RCarter talks filthy. I get excited in pants.

Dawn Patrol, don't have kids. Everybody feels they have to follow the "script." Trust me,Dawn Patrol.

One night after heavy drinking, Za Gaffer tried to sell his child for a vintage Canyon - ridden by David Eggers to 654 WSA victories -, an oz of Strawberry Cough, and a $20 bag of meth. Luckily, he came to his senses, and didn't go through with it all. Selling white kids is a big offense. But, man, after his kid said, " Daddy, I want a SUP," he just couldn't take it. Plus, rumors have it that she talks to Mexicans at school.

And you live in Florida, Dawn Patrol, so God knows what your kids will end-up doing. They may run for president someday, and have a crack head daughter. Hey, your nephew's chick ain't Noelle Bush is it? She likes crack, but who doesn't?

But man, you don't have to have kids. It's not a mandatory requirement. Oh hey, what kind of pills does your nephew or whatever have?

MIS, what hospital will you be giving birth at? I'll have to check the recent birth news in the local papers. Aren't you a little old to be procreating? I imagine you like **** Van Patten from Eight is Enough. He was a very sexy man. A strong man.

Wow, I haven't been this excited since I was first abducted by The Biaviians.

i been up north for a current job,no where near the ocean which sucked.im back in sea girt so everythings gravy,i can get some computer time.

anyway back to the rozsa haters lol, seems nothing changes on here.yea I followed the dude when he first came out.he is the definition of a "success story."i don't recall what kind of drugs he was on,just know he was homeless and an addict and turned his life around, and he still goes and helps out the homeless, which is awesome.

he has a channel on vimeo I think saltybeards or something.he is one of the top freesurfers, and he came out like 6 years ago and people finally find out who he is and start hating.

why are you so creepy? do you have a wife? a girlfriend? a boyfriend? (nothing wrong with that)
do human females let you touch them? or only after they get their money?
why would you look up hospitals? why do you always threaten the dox?
how much were you beat as a kid? not enough is my guess

either you didn't get enough, or too much of the wrong kind of attention during your formative years. too bad Mommy's BF touched you that way :(

hang in there sjkc it gets better those are tough ages.....i have two daughters 12 and 14 and a son thats 2 so its probably a little more hectic at your house but I remember when my daughters were that age it was tough but literally before you know it they're going to high school and its not so crazy at least as far as caring for them physically.......But yeah we gotta take care of the wives not that I am great at doing this or anything but a little kindness towards them goes a long way. For example you get up in the middle of the night with the baby even when its not your turn and the next day she says something like you "deserve to go surfing with your buddies all day and then go out with them afterwards and have a good time".... ok so that might be pushing it a little but crazier things have happened.....the point is when we make them feel loved and beautiful it will benefit you in one way or the other.
