My favorites are the ones that pass way far beneath the wings of the airplane as I head for CR.

The ones with the best sand bars... I just keep an eye on where the sand bars are moving and breaking at which jetties with certain swell directions...

So when the swell hits a certain direction I know which jetty is breaking. I paddle out at some odd jetty while everyone else paddles out to the same old jetty hoping it's working...

Anyways... That's why I always surf Belmar, NJ

Piers are great for surf, but the crowds int the water, the aggro fisherkooks, the po po in the parking lots, and the riff raff that hang out at the piers that attract the fore mentioned men in blue make them a second or third option. Usually lots of entertainment if I'm in the mood for yuks.

point with whatever bottom will do if its got the right angle and bottom contour to suit the swell its on and jetty for the sideshore wind shelter and of course the sandbars they form.

My favorite pier is mostly shark fishermen and dodging kooks on the inside no piggies tho
