got some waist to chest peelers at the Lake yesterday. Still in the 4/3 although i started to feel it after an hour.
Bolted out of work as soon as I could and got out for a couple hours before dark last night... Bright sunshine in the late afternoon, with that low January sun shining straight into the faces of the waves. Light wind shifted to almost straight offshore just before I got out. Tide was a little fat, but I paddled out on the log into waist to belly high soft peeling rights. Nobody out. The tide started to drop, and the swell kept coming. Within an hour or so it really started firing... long barreling sections broken up by soft shoulders. Clean head high sets swinging through with some real consistency drew a small crowd of locals, who paddled out grinning like little kids. "It's so beautiful...." "Look at it down there!..." "That was a sick one!...." "Two hours ago there was 30 guys in the water... I can't believe this!" Five of us shared waves and talked about our recent trips to the tropics... 80 degree water... 5-hour sessions. But we all knew that... at least today as the sun went down and the toes went numb... we had it good, right here at home. That's the beautiful thing about being a New Jersey surfer in the winter... just when you thought the days of good surf and empty lineups are a thing of the past, you can still get those magical sessions where everything comes together.
I got out very briefly this morning. It was cold. A bit nipply. About nipple high. Lots of other people saw the report so there were nipples everywhere.
Well done LB crew. Well done. I like it Lee. Short session short report. Keep em coming guys. talk up your Friday afternoon sessions here.
I went snowboarding last week up at Huntuh. Its nice to be able to just go all day and not have to worry about the wind changing, the swell dying out, the tide killing it, the crowds getting on it (I went on a weekday so the unskilled drunks with Jets Starter jacket/jeans/aviator glasses risk was minimal), getting a parking ticket etc. Yet with all those factors its still nowhere near as fun as surfing.
Thank you everyone who surfed this weekend and talked it up. Its been cool. keep posting your surf sessions all through the weekend. I've been trying to keep the thread in the top 6 spots but wont be doing that during the week end. because on the weekends I don't work, and I sure as **** don't ****ing post! Shomer Farking Shabbos Have a good weekend everyone. Go surfing.
This should be a sticky or whatever the hell there called. Keep it going, any time someone gets out they can share. Keeps the stoke going ya know. Makes sense for a surfing forum to have this. Just no one blow up any spots
Paddled out for three hour session w 2 buds in town from norcal, 2/3 ft semi clean 85 air/81 water. Water was gorgeous really fun session.
Thats so pleasant I might puke!! We had 3-4+ light offshore wind 30 degree air if the sun was shining 40 degree water. My feet still hurt!!!! So Jealouse.....
I'm just chiming in since I am a "senior member". Obx and lots of barrels especially in the am. Just got home. Praying for something in Atlantic city while there tomorrow. More swell Sunday. F yeah Really ledgy so turns were not available every wave. Got bumped by a dolphin. That was nice. I totally dropped in on that pod. They freaked me on that. Bottle nose is a surf nazi. New board was super dope. Need better waves...
Tomorrow looks good in jersey! Belmar will be going off for all those wondering which spot will be best...
2pm waist to belly high and cleanish... lots of current on the inside. Rain. Got better through the afternoon.
