A friend of mine will be on the street as of tomorrow. Hes 50 yrs old drug free and clean (as in not messy, didn't want to make him sound like a gay hooker). He tried to move to Fla where he was promised a house and a job, the guy offering took the money for the place never showed up or contacted him about the job and disappeared. He needs a roof over his head til February 3rd. He can be at my house Thurs, Friday, Sat. Due to my current custody battle I can not have him here sun mon tues wed due to having a very small apartment and an agreement with x saying no other people than me and my son living here. He is willing to work for a roof over his head on those days or all 7 days per week if possible until Feb. 4. PM me with suggestions or help if you can, thanks in advance swellers.

God I hate to hear these stories. What dirtbag would do that to another person? If I hear of anything I'll let you know.

Good man without drug addiction going homeless? I didn't think that was possible in our excellent society...

I can't help ya out but if the dude has a little bit of cash, look into hostels & cheap motels. Cheap motels will negotiate a better price for booking multiple days. Worst comes to worst, tell him to hit up the churches, one after another. I'm sure he'll find one to stay in, and one may even be willing to let him paint/help out.

As a longer term solution he might be able to finagle some kind of a deal with a landlord for a work/stay arrangement;hit up Craigslist/classifieds for landlords or motels looking for painters or handymen, and take a shot in the dark. http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/rej/4836607717.html

Or maybe he could make it back to the Keys with a tent. I remember the homeless there living a seemingly decent life; compared to to being homeless in NY in January, that is.

Just some ideas. Good luck to your buddy.

he will have $ Feb 3 but only has $83 til then. I've been feeding him while he's here. We've been working the cl angle all day but so far have only heard from weirdos who want him to blow them or we get "are you a female if so I can offer an arrangement"? He says thanks for the advice and the kind words though guys.

My place is only a one room efficiency, and if things get desperate, he can bus it up here to RI, I'll let him stay here at my place those nights and I'll crash at a friends. I may have work for him out at my parents place and will do my best to hook him up with food as I know his funds are limited.
Pm me here or email kpd73@hotmail.com should this be the case.
    Hope everything works out.
    Everyone deserves a chance.

Considering the apprehension most on here have aboot meeting other members in person, I don't see much luck in one of these dudes offering shelter.

I'm a loser, so I can't really be of much help. Plus, I reckon this dude is a North Jersey-type, correct? So, it's all on your shoulders North Jersey people. This is your call to arms. Open them Colts Neck palaces to a cracker in need. He surfs, dudes.

Good luck to your pal. My condolences to his plight.

What aboot a cheap motel? You'd have better luck getting people on here to fund paying for a motel. I'll chip-in a little.

Alright Jersey, Rhode Island is showing more compassion...to a NJ person.

Don't perpetuate the negative Jersey stereotype.
