See ya'll out there. If msw holds its magical weight in gold, looks like we're getting absolutely rocked.
These epic bumps at the end of extended forecasts on MSW and SI hardly ever pan out. I'm a firm believer that the algorithm doesn't pick up the flatness until it hits the three day window.
Anyone who thinks forecasting sites just make this stuff up needs to figure out there local spots more. Sounds like you guys are all upset you get skunked constantly. Either that or you need to rely less on forecasting sites and realize NOONE can predict exactly how waves will be for a specific spot. With a forecast like this I think it's pretty safe to say there will be something. We all surf and long for waves, get excited. But nope, you've been let down to many times before right? Use your freaking brain and stop expecting exactly what's forecasted. Really not a hard concept. It's a forecast. When you see a bump, get excited for what MAY come your way. If you think mr. swell info can see into the future, well your an idiot. Bunch of negative freaking Nancy's. If you dont want to use your brain, that's fine too. But why try and extinguish everyone else's stoke? For a bunch of "experienced" surfers I'm surprised how many of you have issues with forecasts.
Awesome I try to never let a soap box opportunity pass us by! BRAH, ITS A FREE SITE. YOU DON'T NEED TO USE IT!!!! yeah brahs.
I had 666 posts until I saw this. Bassmon is a cool dude and likely Jamaican like mr nice guy. He hit this on the head. Seriously ugh $hit fu(k fu(k $hit fu(k My life is so unfair that I have a computer to show me when there might be waves. Then no one paddles out when it's big since the tide is not right or some queer remark. I have nothin against you if you are what they consider queer because that is rude however I do dislike this it's not fair crap. Man shut up. Then you paddle out when it's clean and waist high with a stupid go pro. Newsflash...you aren't the first to surf a 3 foot wave. Oh woopdy doo! And even if you were, I wouldn't watch you with your stank ass ride. Whatever happened to just surfing. Damn all you narcissists. Seriously I could be the biggest narcissist. Guess what...who cares. Surf and shut up. Go out when it is crap. I love having my space but if you go out every day, improv, and don't act like a **** head...respect. Plus I know you know what's up when it is good. I am not the only one with this thought process. This sense of entitlement garbage is sickening. I feel like I read the script to idiocracy 2 on a lot of days here. Love this forum still but damn man some of y'all drive me nuts. I look forward to seeing you on your grove let when it's 2@5 south on the buoy but you're in va beach. Ugh THen talk about how it sucks. Yeah, you need it to be 10@15 on the east coast. Trifling
well SI sucked you in with a good forecast, and now after you check it 20x an hour the steady decline to flatness begins.
Wow!!!!!!!!!! I'm losing my mind!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited!!!!!!!! I just blew a load from here to next Tuesday. It's going to be the best swell everrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!! Does anyone have a towel?
I just try to keep it in my pants until a couple days out. I completely agree with you that this stuff is a crap-shoot until the day before and you still need to know your spots and general swell knowledge to know when to score.
Yo dawg, 25 mph on shore wind isn't my bag. Good for you, bad for me. The forecast could change right up until Tuesday morning though. Ya feel me? I want to surf all day, every day, but experience has taught me not to set myself up for disappointment. I'm not a clairvoyant, so until I see it irl, my fingers are crossed. Staying on the realistic side of things is different then being negative.
So many people on here simply expect the forecast to come to full fruition, which is indeed, idiotic.
Also MSW sucks in my experience. Between Swellinfo (which is pure computer models) and Surfline (which has real human beings) and some local knowledge, you can usually get a good idea of what to realistically expect. Take a look at marine forecasts and some other data sources and you might not nail it but you probably won't totally blow it either. Experience helps. Also don't trust anything more than 1 or 2 days out. There was a time before internet surf forecasts where people used to spend long hours in front of the weather channel waiting for the tropical update and local forecasts and strangely enough, they actually got waves. And before that they read the marine weather in the local paper or listened to one of those low fi marine weather radios...
isnt the op someone who has been surfing less than the age of the ketchup in my fridge? and has about as much surfing knowledge as said ketchup?
