    There oughta be a law...

From now on, everyone must be exactly like me. Anyone surfing a board shorter than 6'6" (my short board) will be arrested and jailed without bail. Likewise, any boards longer than 7'2" (my quasi log) are outlawed, and shall be confiscated by the Beach Patrol, or Coast Guard, whichever arrives first. Ain't a goofy footer like me? Firing squad in the town square at high noon. Everyone knows that reg footers are commie terrorist miscreants. While we're at it, veggietarians, kill 'em all. I'm not one, so you can't be one either. And on, and on, and on.

    Conform or die.

    Peace on earth.

    Ni**a, please.

He might have some physical limitations. There is a guy named Jeff in Puerto Escondido that rides one of those because he is paralyzed from the waist down. He rips and still charges fairly heavy days.

Just advocatin' for the devil in accordance with the ADA o' 1979.

Hurdy Gurdy Man? That's the Swedish Chef from the Muppets?

I just think it's comical how every month or so, we gets a new tread bustin on anyone who dares to enjoy the surf in some "unconventional" manner.

    Geez, already.

    Just go have fun.

    Mama mia.

My wife has a Foster's Beer version of a waveski, it's 7'0" and has a fin box on the bottom with some heavy concaves. It is lot's harder to ride than an SUP, so don't worry. Most people keep flipping over. It gets some serious tubes! My buddy who sold it to her shredded the $hit out of some head to overhead waves one day, it blew me away. I want no part of it. You're too locked in when you eat it. Foot straps, seated position, you are at the mercy of the barrel, and I know that's where I would be headed. My wife takes it out when its flat to knee high, but it can shred. Magnum PI brah!

You know a hurdy gurdy is actually an instrument....Da song was conceived during a "spiritual journey" and copious amounts of drugs were involved I'm sure....Sounds like a surf trip if you ax me...

After seeing this vid kinda makes me want to put a little more time on my wave ski . I think as surfers we should try every water activity . Everything from a to z when it comes to the water . a true watermen can pretty much ride anything on or in the ocean . I know I'm not going narrow my field of opportunity to get a stoke out of the ocean . Riding one type of board is such a narrow avenue of stoke . The right equipment for the right conditions . If its windy , i will kite . If its clean, offshore and rip able i will take the shorties board, if its big i will take the step up pin tail , under waist i will take the retro fish or 9'5 nose rider . If the flock of seagulls (Gf and friends) are at the beach i will try to sup with them to have a good time and a laugh . Wave or die . Its kinda like that old sk8 or die video game that had jousting in it . Nothing like knocking a tan bumm off their sup with a padded stick .
I realized the more time i get in the water, makes for better time on land . I'm might bring the wave ski out more on those small days and get few more rides and laughs .

Brings back memories... In high school, my best bud's Mom owned the Hobie store in Cocoa Beach. Was awesome flyin a hull on a 16. We didn't do much surfin with it, but it was a blast to sail. I didn't know much, but would crew for him. F***er would flip the boat on purpose (turtle) just so we could could practice righting it. It was soooo cool goin THAT fast with no sound but the sail rippling. REAL fast. Like outrun the power boats fast.

Yeah hobbies' are freaking fun . I wish i knew half the skills my buddy has on them . Such a great way to enjoy those flat spells . I have to recommend this to a lot of you si crew , if you know of someone that can really handle a hobie . Take that opportunity to take a ride . You won't be disappointed . As for the wave ski , its really fun when you catch one and be line down the face , holding on that inside rail trying to get covered up . Plus an occasional nose dive catapult makes the day when nothing else is worth riding .

There was a guy around here that rode one of those. He had a prosthetic leg but he could rip on that thing. I was always a bit worried when he would wipeout but he never had a problem that I saw.

A few friends and i just rode a 4 man canoe in some decent sized surf a couple weeks ago. Talk about fun, i was stoked for days.

Have ridden a kayak on a couple little bumps. Was good fun. Nothing i would do as a hobby.

That guy in the vid was ripping that thing tho.

Wave Skis have been around for at least 30 years. There was a guy in Delaware who used to tear up waves up to overhead on one. Barrels and carving turns. I borrowed his a few times and tried it out in chest high waves and was pretty humbled. They aren't much like a kayak or SUP in terms of what they are capable of in solid waves, and how hard they are to ride.
