P.S.---I have heard that it is very bad to pull the battery cable from the battery while the car is running, as a way of testing your alternator. I have heard that this does horrible things to your alternator. As well, with all modern cars being run by some type of computer, I have to imagine that the ECU (computer) could suffer some expensive damage too.

So it's looking like its the in-tank fuel pump. Got it to start for a few seconds before it died, after charging the battery and spraying the sh!t out of the throttle body with starter fluid.

Thanks for all the helpful hints! And just for the record it's a 2002 chevy s10 (V6 Extreme). And its pouring rain here today so i got to do the rest of the trouble shooting in that. Im still soaking wet.

Way to go, leetymike808. If the engine starts after introducing fuel to the intake, then you have a fuel starvation issue.

I don't know where the tank on an S10 is located. Can you access it from the cab, or will you have to drop it from under the truck bed?

MIS i too was amazed at the lack of derailment! Thanks everybody for staying on track! I bet it was because we all feel sympathy for car issues, especially cause it keeps us from the beach!

Kid Rock, the tank is definitely in a spot that has to be dropped from under. And since its the "extreme" version, that means its lowered and needs to be jacked up to access anything underneath. Hence why i am now waiting at home for a shop to call and a tow truck to come save the day.

And now that the prob is solved derail this b!tch buoys!

MIS you know me to well! Hahaa. Funny thing, have you ever looked at the "emergency" release on a trunk? It shows a person running....

Kind of like Roy's van, except it's a car and it's not a boy in the trunk.

These kind of things happened some time. If it were your alternator the car would jump and run fine, but need to jump every time. So I don't think it's that. I also had a .... .
