Has anyone found or made any heated booties or socks? I can't believe none of the companies who make heated bests and suits aren't making these. Is there some inherent problem with the idea I'm missing? If anyone has old heated vests and or batteries they don't want id be interested in them for my Frankenstein project.

Genius idea if no one has come up with it, I have been surfing this winter in VB with a 3/2 , 3 mil gloves and 5 mil boots, and despite the thin suite for this season my extremities are always the first to lose blood flow and heat.

    Zeroevol,
Have you tried it? From what I know the warmers are air activated. Maybe worth a test though to see what happens anyway. Gonna have to google waterproof warmers and see if anything comes up.

Don't seem to be any warmers other than air activated ones.

    Anyone have any other thoughts??

I always wondered if this is a cheap "heated" suit - they get darn hot. Just don't know what happens if they mix with seawater... boom!

I think it needs air to activate

Okay guys, it seems like none of the manufacturers are making heated boots for some reason. Beats the hell out of me why not!! Any engineers out there who are familiar with flexible silicone heat mats or batteries?
I know the cypher heated vest break frequently, if anyone is sitting on some that don't work id happily take them off your hands

7 mil boots will get you through any water temp. Heated gloves? Now, that's an idea.

IMO thin merino wool socks definately helps add a bit of warmth as long as it doesnt cramp your toes. So far this winter i've been getting by with a hooded Xcel 4/3 and 5 mm boots. Water dropped below 40 in Delaware a few weeks ago, and the last 8 sessions with water in the upper 30's has convinced me the thin merino wool socks/shirt/johns under the Xcel 4/3 is as warm as the Xcel 5 mm i got rid of...and more flexible for paddling. I figured if Patagonia uses merino wool as a lining, the underwear was worth a shot and way cheaper that a new suit.

    well, fine.

which, as you might imagine (cause its a WETsuite), didn't take long.

I might be interested. Let me do a little tea search about splitting the pad in half. What size is it?
