there definitely are sharks here...ive seen some pretty big ones 6-7 being pulled out from topsail to CB on hook an line from the shore/pier, but then again, i've speared in masonboro inlet a lot and ive never seen one there (knock on wood). there is a pretty big cuda there though....there are going to be sharks everywhere that you go, especially kook sharks at c-street on a good swell. just dont paddle out if you see birds feeding and fish jumping near the break. this toaster talk does have me pretty worried though, and that's why I dont have one in my house...i figured that it's just a matter of time until it turned on me. i had to give up eggos, but in the long run, i think that it may be a decision that will save my life.
The toaster information is part of a b.s. propaganda campaign being carried out by the sharks and the softies at PETA to mislead and confuse you. Don't be fooled! Sharks consume thousands of people, mostly kooks, each and every year. Sharks kill more people than heart disease and car accidents COMBINED! I used to wear a toaster around my neck while surfing to keep sharks at bay, but I found it ineffective. Now I just spray my wetsuit with pepper spray the night before I go out.
Did I miss something?? Whats up with the toaster?? I usually just fill my wetsuit with chicken noodle soup in the winter to keep the sharks away and in the summer I put green jello in the pocket of my trunks.....is this the wrong way to go? Please advise!

Mainly they chase whale carcasses and have a feast. There are plenty of tiger, occasional bull, lemon sharks,blacktip, spinner, sand sharks. etc. I def. wouldn't venture by yourself on an inlet break late afternoon or early morning in the summer with all the menhaden and mullet running around. I personally have seen some large tiger sharks in mid to late summer along this coast, very close to shore. Thats a risk any surfer takes, but your chances are very slim. Mainly it is those 3-5 ft sharks that we hear about and see along the carolina coast so much when it warms up and bait is running everywhere.
OOOHHHH! well now its all clear. does that mean I can still do the chicken noodle soup? just a little humor to fight off bordom of work and lack of waves.... have a good one.
