College kids. I checked cam... It looks clean looks maybe waist high? A lot of UNCW kids rent places off season by the beach, my son included.

Wait until summer. There will be 400 people on that cam.

I was just watching the cam from my desk two miles away and thinking the same thing. Didn't see one wave ridden in like 3 minutes. Just kids getting washed back by whitewater in chest high waves.

    what else can you do?

i can't be a d!ck because i know half the guys out. the other half just sit there and watch anyway. masonboro is the same way.

my family has lived on the same street in wb for the past 30 years and i pretty much surf the same spot. sh!t just creeps up on you and you get used to it.

    any suggestions?

People just like to paddle out and chill? Are they at least trying to paddle for waves or they are out there just hanging out? Weird.

Some people just want to be part of the club and then go tell everybody they went surfing

Here's my take on it. There are some extremely good surfers in the line-up. Most are just average joes or joannes. They are youngish and don't want to look like "kooks' missing waves so they act like buoys and bob around in the water. I just go down the beach a little bit so nobody sees me pearl dive and miss waves!

Thats why you should not go to WB as a surfer at UNCW. I could always find a spot within 30 min that would be uncrowded and always better than WB. Remember, Mase is 8 miles long. There are bars everywhere if you don't mind walking for a few.

Well put. not to mention letting themselves floats like little corks right into the impact zone and getting their lunch eaten by a cleanup set. At WB you get waves AND a show

    ^^^^True.
That's what's nice about being an old fart, I really don't give a sh*t what the others in the line up think about me as long as they stay out my way.
We have a fair amount of nice Wahines floating around which is nice.

I am guilty of just going to the beach to float around and hangout rather than surf sometimes. Even on days when there are good waves, sometimes its more fun to me to just float and paddle and watch other dudes rip. Thats what its all about right? Having fun?

So true, sometimes it's great to just watch other people get rides and enjoy the water...

Really this only happens in the summer, or 50-54 degree water like in Wrightsville.
