Dudez as I sit here in the office..still so stoked..applied for a line of credit with spirit..got approved and received enough miles for another round trip to 413 territory..November..if any of youz wanna go it'll cost you about $500 for the whole trip..

Occasionally the CG is looking for illegal immigrants from the Dominican Republic trying to boat in to PR by crossing the Mona Channel. Over the last 20 years they have caught quite a few. Many surfers think automatically it is a surfer being sought. The waves have been small last couple of days??
But I am not there, so you will hear more than us up north.

 

Bad it was unreal..Uncomparable to my first time there 8 years ago in SJ area..when it was flat Friday I did some free diving at Tres and Maria's/Indicators to get a better understanding of the bottom..I'll upload some pics of that this this evening..pretty suite

As for making it out, I wasn't there so I cannot judge. But don't be so sure about skills of others you do not know. That in itself is a skill not worthy of anybody.

this happened to me Barry Cuda; packed last minute and protected the boards a little too much so all that fit was the 6'0; the 6'8 couldnt make the cut as i needed to make the flight. Ended up sitting out a day watching marias and tres from the beach 2nd week in December

I was there in PR from dec 7th to 13th. We probably walked right by each other!! Got out at Marias on the Wednesday early AM, and in the PM at Tres Palmas. I had a large board allowing paddle speed. Had some great rides in large surf again. Was fun.
One of my good friends just returned 10 days ago. I had told him to take a larger board than his shorty. Like so many do, they said, "what does he know?". He called me on his return and told me he wished he had listened to me- he too sat out the larger days, as his board was clearly too small, setting him up to be "pitched".
How did I know that ahead of time--well, as a resident of that beautiful island, I learned the hard way--I have been pitched over the falls enough times making the exact same error--too small of a board for large reef breaks. Eventually, the epiphany sets in...."duh, me need longer and faster board!". But first I need to get my teeth replaced......<grin>

 

Reef Clusters all over Tres..deez will eat your flesh as I found out the first day surfing the inside cause it was barreling

I surfed Domes this AM. Good time. Still some swell coming through.

I never heard any more about the helicopters. But the police were on scene yesterday too. It didn't look like a training exercise.
