I need a cheap room in Cocoa Beach for the Ron Jons Surf Festival Fri. April 10th to Sun. April 12th. Preferably within a block or so of beach. Everytime I book on the internet and pay $80 - 120 a night , I see them when I get there for half the price in little places that are on not on the internet. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanx, SCislander:cool:

from my experience if you go for a cheap hotel in cocoa beach, it's likely to be a very very shady place... there is one in particular that comes to mind (I can't seem to remember the name but it was a couple of miles north of ronjon's ...) that is next door to a strip club and has metal shutters over the check-in window to protect the staff inside from thugs and bandits (or maybe VERY catty strippers)

i don't live in cocoa beach... but i kinda doubt you'll find anything decent for under $80/night...

ya, a longer period swell will move in for the weekend. The winds are looking pretty light, so it could be fun.

Where do I do that? Can I camp near Sebastions Inlet? As long as there is a shower near, I am happy. I am old and cannot sleep salted down.

    Don't go too cheap

If I don't want to camp I usually stay in the Orlando area. The rates are often dirt cheap there for a decent room even if you have to drive a bit. They have some nice restaurants downtown.

Be careful about going too cheap. I found a cheap super8 right off US 1 in Melbourne that turned out to be a dump. There were two huge roaches floating in the water that didn't drain in the tub. When the manager came to clean out the roaches I asked him if he could also take the pile of bed spreads and blankets the maids had left in the corner of the room. "Does it bother you", he asked. "Well it is kind of messy" I said. "Oh you Americans" was his response as he goes to gather the bedding. I don't know if he was from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh or some other country in that area but someone needs to tell the guy that most of his clients in these parts are Americans!
