Pretty cool to see a couple local guys getting some exposure. Chris Kelly with a Wave Of The Winter nomination, and Andrew Gesler leading the polling for GoPro Of The World for January.
???????????????????????????????????? I live just a few blocks from them. I've surfed with that crew since they were groms. I think you're surfing the wrong places or are deeply confused. Here's a pic I snapped of Chris down the street from their house. As for Chris he's going to college in Hawaii and if I were him I'd stay.
stand by what i said. they have a presence everywhere except at the main breaks in ocnj. by that i mean ads/phones/clips/photos/shops/swellinfo... nothing wrong with that. but being an actor and a businessman is not exactly being a surfer. they're different.
You'll always find the kelly boys down at North street when there are waves! The only dudes throwin air reverses
The Kellys in particular are a couple of the most surf stoked guys around. They used to dawn patrol before school then be on it again right after school no matter how good or bad the waves. They've also been really good with the local groms pushing them to improve.
im curious to know, how old were the kellys when they came to nj from pa?i remember seeing it in an old video, think it was that surf contest that brad gerlach runs.all I remember is rob Kelly became pro after 3 years moving to nj.that's a success story to the fullest right there.its also cool hes doing the hippy thing with the long hair. #longhairdontkare
I'm going to guess Rob was 14 or 15. Don't remember Chris as much back then but Rob was an instant stand out and Chris really came on strong in high school.
I was talking to Rob at the Unsound Pro in NY in September.. Seemed like a real cool guy. And he ripped.
The Kelly's and Gelser and pretty cool and humble guys. When ever I seen them in the water they were polite and very down to earth dudes. They don't let their exposure make their heads big
