Just keep surfing and doing exercise, and eat well--that will keep you surfing into the 70's. I am 64 and still able to surf well enough to keep me happy.
My smallest board right now is a 7/4 byrne. Just traded in two boards recently, --6'6 fish (G&S larry mabile shape, and Lopez 7/0). Good enough for me. I do also own 2 longbaords for small waves, and a recently acquired (hence the trade ins) egg shape. I am happy with that. You move up in size every few years. I also have two "gunny" boards for travel.
Screw these stupid mini jetski peaces of ****e!!!!!! Could you even imagine one in the line up. Wed be beggin for the SUPs to chase them off. If they keep inventing dumb crap like this to make surfin easier to do and learn, We are phuct!!!!!
True, but I disregard volume more for the sake of shape and size, rightly or wrongly. Old school!! But it isn't really annoying. It is custom fitting to your needs. I once read an interview with Sunny Garcia (10 years ago), in which he stated that he found no gain in boards under 7/6; diminishing returns. I fond that to me somewhat accurate statement for my size.
one day you should try my aadvance. me tink u like. unless the wave is, like, vertical. then never mind.
old school indeed. when i successfully unlocked myself from that prison i was shocked that i had not done so earlier. suggest you do same.
Good suggestion. i was looking at Roberts Hope Diamonds--shorter than what I have, nice shape, but way more volume for guys like me.
Very good. We have a couple of shapers in NH, but I am not impressed with their boards. There is a guy down on Cape Cod, who I know is a good shaper (Roger Beale), but I have only seen a few of his boards here. I will try to google him and see what comes up. I don't know if he is still around.
Now he's 10 years older and riding a 6'3 for normal size waves
