Dude, if surfing is the greatest thing in the world, and you are still a grom, why in the heck aren't you more stoked. Man, you should be thinking nothing but surfing. That's how Za Gaffer was in his teens.

You should be imagining everything as waves...grassy hills......that weird concrete thing......

    No surfer plays baseball.

Football or Volleyball maybe, but not baseball.

Maybe you're not just that into surfing? But if you are, stop doing everything else. Baseball?

C'mon, man. You shine everything but surfing as a grom.

    !!!!agree!!!!
You pretty much just explained me and 99% of all the groms in the world so simply...

It really is the greatest thing in the world. I can't think of anything better then surfing/just having fun in the ocean

Another good bye thread - another eventual return. Just a high school kid screaming for attention.

"Please don't go!" or "Go away and never come back", it doesn't matter, it's all good as long as you're acknowledged.

Never mind, I fell for it.

Hawkfart, you showed such promise & potential. Lately, however, you've been regressing.

How do you have the time to document such things? So......perhaps time to get a job.
Or, if you're still sharting around at that Maryland JuCo then try to raise your gpa from that 1.0 to, what .... average?

    I have a 4.1 ;) (yes I am just bragging)
thanks for the advice... it really is some good advice. I'm setting my sights on becoming a marine biologist or oceanographer, really whatever I become more interested in.

I promise to rise back to the grom I once was and decrease recent negativity. I realize this, not just on SI... (it is just an internet forum after all)

    (back to tread)
I miss HOL around here... I kinda hope shortboarder wasn't him.

It's ok, Hawky, that 4.1 won't be held against you. It's a nice thing to have for mummsy & da-da to brag about at those horrid family reunions, but it means fark-all in The Real World. As you'll soon discover

Hypothesis: RiSurfer = HOL = Whalerus.

In response to the ****ing retarded douche **** who said I don't have "It" to be a surfer, Let me tell you what it takes for me to get to the beach, since I don't have a license nor will anybody drive me to the beach. I have to either ****ing hitchhike, which I stopped doing because its extremely dangerous and humililating, or, I have to walk 3 miles to the closest bus stop, get on a bus with a bunch of crackheads, ride to the beach which is 20 minutes, get off the bus, walk 1 mile to the closest break which is really ****ty and saturated in retarded tourists and ****head kooks. Surf in ****ty waist high waves for 3-8 hours. Walk back to the bus stop get on the bus, ride back to my town, get off at the stop and walk 3 miles back in the cold as fark weather, come home to one of my parents who is always mad at me for going. On top of all that, I suck, I can air sometimes but not alot, I can do snaps cutbacks floaters and all that sh!t but I'm not getting any better.

Now onto why I'm going full swing into baseball, I've been playing it since I was 4, whole family is into baseball, I'm naturally very good at it, I can not practice for 8 months then comeback and do just as good as I was doing before the hiatus. I'm genetically gifted for baseball. And baseball makes me a better all around person, helps me with my grades, improves my coordination and make lots of friends through it. Along with that, I'm also not destroying my skin and destroying my ears. I've been getting big into weightlifting for the past year and whenever I surf I get a lot weaker. Don't let anybody tell you that surfing makes you stronger, not in the slightest bit, all it does is increase your endurance of paddling, you get no progression from it because you're not putting more resistance on you when your paddling. Think about it like this, if somebody benches 135, and just keeps on benching it and never puts more weight on, they won't get stronger, they'll just have more endurance and be able to do 135 for more reps. Now if you were to attach weights to your hands and paddle around, that would make your stronger, and you progressivly overload making you stronger and stronger. Sadly that can't be done, and surfing burns off lots of calories which I am not able to make up and thus lose weight and strength because of it. So all in all quitting surfing will help tremendoulsy. I really hate though having to quit cuz I still love it.

And also in resopnse to the person who said I wasn't ready ofr the seriousness of high school sports, high school sports are a joke, total politics in it, its just who knows who, whos friends with the coach, and whos in the booster club. Thats why I take high school ball as a joke, real baseball is in travel ball and Perfect Game showcases and torunatments.
