Im neutral on it. Its more for divers in the open ocean (right). If they tried to use it as a surfable reef Id be concerned about getting pounded and stuck inside one of the cars.
Yeah it is for divers not us. Just wondering what else may get dumped. Yeah gives new meaning to "caught inside"
fishing seems to have gotten better over last 10/20 years. also, not sure about this, but i'm seeing more dolphins, sharx and whales. i think these issues are connected.
get up to date on your tetanus shots fellas, you're gonna get dragged over rusty subway cars. and you thought urchin encrusted reef in PR was a problem.
i get skunked constantly when surf fishing. it still sucks. the boat guys do well. it's probably because i got limited skillz and time to fish.
Fishing and surfing both take time and dedication. The exception with fishing is you can get someone (a guide)to put you on the fish. Tore up some fish in the surf this past fall . Timing with tide was critical.
ain't easy. 2 things that help are (the new) braided fishing line and maybe tying the clam bait in with elastic string sold at tackle shops. also i think high tide helps.
fishing is all about luck, doesnt matter if you been fishing for 60 yrs or someone who fished for 2 days there is no special trick or anything like that.atleast from surfcasting, never fished off a boat before only on the beach.some days you will get a lot of bites, other days u will sit there for 10 hrs without a bite.and it doesn't really matter how far u cast out.i usually let my father in law cast out because hes 73 and considered a "master" lol,I want to catch something when I fish, its not so much about casting out,but reeling in is the important part.we caught 8 sandsharks 20 yards off the beach.sucks because u have to throw them back, not a good eat unless ur Chinese.and sometimes crabs still ur bait.
I always say, "you ain't gonna get 'em sittin' on the couch." Spring and fall... keep your gear in your vehicle. If you're lucky enough to live or work by the beach, stop and fish whenever you can, even if it's for only 20 minutes. Shoot down to the beach after dinner, when everybody's settling in for some TV. Leave early for work early and wet a line before you punch in. That's how much time, and that's the kind of dedication, that helps me land fish. The rest is pure luck. I can't tell you how many times I just lucked into fish on that 20 minute beach walk. But you gotta be there. Usually, they're either there or they're not, and if the tide and conditions are right, if you're not getting fish in the first half hour, you're likely not going to get fish after 2 hours either.
im gonna go ahead and disagree with you cep. Not that I have a ton of fishing experience but anytime I have been fishing with someone that actually fishes they always seem to catch more fish and bigger fish than me. Fish Gods be lookin out
Respectfully speaking, you couldn't be more wrong, and I'm not sure there is 1 factual statement in your comment, outside of sandsharks not being edible. Fishing is a lot like surfing. The guys who understand local conditions, currents, bottom structure, etc. always do better. Not saying a first-timer can't cast a line out and stumble into a trophy fish, but the guys who do it regularly routinely outperform the weekend warriors.
