Yeah. you're right. i forgot about that. I just watched both on youtube. Balaram's was a left and a bit bigger; the drop was more of a roll-in. Barley's was a longer right and looked like he was a bit deeper. More technical of a wave since they're both goofies. Idk; they're both pretty damned good. Balaram has been getting more publicity (albeit well-deserved) ever since the New York contest.
The quik pro was funny. It was cool to watch Bal compete with those guys, but it also made realize how good they really are. He's been the best guy around NY for a while and they were so much better, albeit he had Kelly and Mick. But they were just so much faster than him.
Was surprised when they did it on the east coast. they lucked out with that swell and was so sick to watch those guys on all-time east coast. tho in the interviews they were still saying it wasn't that good. was rooting for balaram in that slater heat. drove me nuts he kept going for that backside rotator but I guess "u come at the king you bes' not miss." also stoked to see will skudin getting some respect
I finally got around to reading Surfing's last issue (Home away from Home or something like that...on the theme) this morning. Anyway, Brett had a shot getting stuffed at Pipe. You can totally tell the guy that cut him off is about to dig a rail...while Brett is deep in the tube in perfect position.
baddy is right. I'm sure he will get a few votes just by dropping in and asking. But if he actually cultivated a relationship with this or any other social media outlet, he would get much better results. Marketing through social media takes a little effort.
boy brett im pissed at you you come here ask for votes then dont even say thank you next year it might just be a troll fest on the thread you post and there might be anti brett posts on here...way to let down your fans bro..
alright i guess i forgive you now. viva la south. show them Hawaiian boys and cali boys where the real shreders commin from the south....thats right.i want you to make them mad....so man the cry. and next time someone on this forum goes to hawaii kick eddie rothman in the nuts for me.
WELP, Gesler WON (for those who haven't heard)! http://www.surfline.com/surf-news/new-jersey-drainer-takes-the-1000-andrew-gesler-wins-gopro-of-the-world-monthly-users-choice-award_123287/ Thanks for the support, to those of you who did. And to those of you who didn't that's fine too… as long as you did go over and support one of the guys on there. I'm curious to see the entries that come out of that pumping Superbank Swell in Australia from last week. Should be some mental long blue barrels in the Top10 for Februarys GoPro of The World. Thanks man… and ya, next time you see me in the water, definitely say hey! Forecast looks pretty bleak, but hopefully something will pop up soon. Thanks! That was a memorable wave for sure, and won't be forgotten. Scary, but rad in the end, since neither of us got hurt. Ok… well your comment was pretty compelling and sarcasm isn't very detectable online unless you know the person. I was a little thrown off by the whole "I have to live with that everyday." part, but the rest seemed legit. Glad it was just a joke, and thanks for clearing that up You are right that I don't come to the forums here and respond to anything I haven't posted, but I do swing by and read some. As for "any other social media outlet" and "marketing through social media takes effort". Please don't even try to write off my work ethic. Aside from my actual time in the water, on average I put in close to 40hrs a week on my computer as well. That means lots of late nights working, since I have kids to take care of during the day. When I have an edit up the day after I shot the footage, or an Instagram clip up the same day the stuff was shot… That doesn't happen by just surfing and hanging out the rest of the day/night. So… You may be right about me not gathering many voters or fans by only dropping in here when I'm in an online voting contest, but please don't discredit my work ethic because of one online forum. Also… to Bagus… I'm not sure whats up with all your comments. But sorry if I did anything to make you mad man.
I don't follow pro surfing so I don't know who you are. I've seen your name before and I know you surf better than I will ever in my lifetime.. but that's it... I can't dis credit your work ethic. My comment is based on this single attempt and the info I have available to me. From my perspective, your a dude with 11 posts asking a community that knows who you are, but doesn't really consider you a part of it, for help winning 20k. You have to expect some people that frequent the forum to be a little unforgiving of that. Someone with your talent, access to technology, and amount of people (potential followers) that technology brings, has the potential to make a decent income on sm alone. I don't know what you make... but 20k of your income this year just waked away because your SM wasn't better than your competitions. I don't know what you spend that 40 hr/wk on, but if I were you, I would spend more of it developing sm relationships on an individual level. I'm willing to bet with 3 month head start on that contest you could have one it easily. Again, just an opinion.
I have a question: is it illegal for surfers to do "step off's" from personal watercraft at the Lighthouse?
