Aaargh! Micah, is anything forming off Africa? I looked at some METEOSAT images and there seems to be some rotating disturbance there, but not being that knowledgeable about meteorloogy, I can't tell if it will lead to anything.

nothing showing any tremendous potential right now...unfortunately. There's still time, but we have a ways to catch up to the predictions they made for this season's tropical storm numbers.

The predictions are always sooo ridiculous, just because in 2004 we had a rough season. There will probably be about 2 more named storms, and one that comes close to Florida. Thats about the average of every "normal" year. I have to work at the Surf Competition on Satuday and Sunday (labor day surf fest) and there is giong to be noo swell...just like at the easter surfing competition

    =D

ohhhh how i love the timing of these little shindigs

I feel for you 99. What do they do when the waters are flat? Call it off and reschedule or just cancel it all together?

Yep, there's a lot of competitions going on this weekend too.

As far as making predictions on the quantity of storms, there just not guessing here, there are some variables that are highly correlated with the the number of tropical storms, but its obvisously not a very reliable seasonal forecast to make as this season has shown.

But really, the last few years, things didn't real start happening until the beginning of September, so we'll see.

Well when it was flat for the easter surfing competition, they still tried to surf whatever they could get. Surfers came all the way from Brazil to surf small shore pound, but alot of sponsorships were givin out, and what not.

Hopefully tommorow it will be surfable, and if not, they'll continue to do it, because it's a charity for the "National Kidney Foundation"
