    Hello,
I am looking for a beginners board to buy. I spend 2 winter months working in Sayulita Mexico every year, and the rest of the year land locked in Colorado. I have been surfing before on foam boards and had a lot of fun, and also on real surf boards and got pretty pumled. Im looking for something that I can leave down there and have fun on every time regardless of the gap in time spent surfing. i would also be possibly using the board cash inlay in Baja and in California...maybe... I have been looking at the Greco models 2.0 8' and Eden 9', aswell as the wave storm but feel like that has gotta be a piece of crap.
Ultimately I don't know anything about any of this but want to have some fun out there...
    I am a 5'4, 145 pound girl, Help!
Thank you for any suggestions you have! :D

Get something between 7 and 8 ft. At your level there is no need to get extra scientific about it, you just want to easily catch waves, and stand up.

Try Craig's List for something used, and less expensive. There is definitely good stuff on there sometimes.

    Good luck, have fun!

Get a 6'6" that is kind of wideish (20.5"-21.5") with some thickness (2.75"), but with a nose that is narrow enough to duckdive, so you won't get so pummeled. It will have plenty of float for someone your size.

A lot depends on your budget, but you should buy something indestructible, no matter what you get. If not a custom EPS/Epoxy, customized for your size and ability, and glassed to be bulletproof (expensive but better), then at least one of the Surftech/Tuflite models (cheap but of lesser quality... used will be even cheaper).

As for shape... something in the 7'0 - 7'4 range for length, and I recommend a hybrid. Look here for an idea of what I'm talking about: http://shop.surftech.com/Surf-Hybrid

I would get a 7'6 Egg, from any maker you choose. They catch waves well, float you well for paddling, and are very maneuverable boards once you get used to them. Remember, at your stage, flotation is your friend.
I have an egg from Gordon & Smith, but again, choose your maker.
Good luck, and enjoy your Sayulita trips!!

Check shopgoodwill.com also they had 3 boards for auction in Colorado yesterday. Why they had surfboards in Colorado I dunno but we're nice boards and sold at auction for round 76$ I think

Hey Tori! Welcome to SI! :) Don't mind some of the guys post it's the official welcome to all girls haha. That's awesome you get to work in Mexico for 2 months sounds like a lot of fun!

I would suggest getting something like a 7'6 fun board (around 50l for volume so tons of float!) like some of the other members have mentioned. That was the size of my first board (after buying a terrible one like frost) that I really learned how to surf on. It was just right to get the basics down without being too much board. I like longboards they're a lot of fun but as a girl to carry around everywhere and put on the roof of my jeep I liked having something a little smaller. That might not be your situation though.

Here's the 7'6 board I was talking about, I think is a brand from China called 'Blue' or something so it was super cheap & it's pink! What's better than that?

I would just go with the wavestorm... Yea it is a pos but you can save your bucks that way and have more fun... Save up for a real board while learning on that thing- then pass it on to someone else.

Go for an 8ft or 9ft catch surf Log. They're the best softboard longboards out there, perfect for what you wanna do. They have awesome color scheme and also have a "shark repellent" color scheme on the bottom.

Catch surf has great customer service, too.
