Actually didn't like when they ran heats there last year. Yes its a great little barrel ride but boring for contest heats. Its a very one dimensional wave. I'd love to surf it and it looks like a dream wave but it just made for boring contest heats.
yea I agree.margerat river can get pretty epic.the box is just a small wave in terms of length.u drop in backdoor it and that's it.i would love to see them go from rio to saquerema heres my proposed 12 events not snapper bells can stay g land nias ++++++++ j bay they should stop the us open in Huntington,and take it to capetown s Africa,the pier is epic france supertubos fuk trestles,lets do blacks ocean beach,they did it once and it sucked,think it was gabs first win ever off the wall pipe
No chopes? That's my fav event. Agree with jbay, nias, gland though. Aren't there only 11 events on the WCT? US open is a QS event I believe.
forgot about chopes,chopes can stay. I do think theres many events they should change.these are supposed to be the best surfers in the world.and how are u going to put on a show in 2ft snapper or 3 ft closeout rio?the us open is only cool when theres a hurricane off the coast.i guess im the only one bored with watching all these shytty events like gold coast,margeret river,rio,trestles.lets throw some new locals in
Agree on nias, but put back keramas indo in the loop. teahopoo last year was the sickest contest I have ever seen. I understand the logistics and swell being unpredictable make kp and wsl's job hard. But the first few rounds of this years Goldie shouldn't have been run in such garbage waves. Want to see the best take on waves with power.
Pipe is a great contest wave. You can't even compare the Box to it. Pipe: Many different moods from sand filled death pits to dreamy glass barrels. Its a left and a right. Split peaks. More critical. Multiple sections. 2nd reef roll ins. Opportunity to do some turns Opportunity to connect sections or get multiple barrels. Close proximity to cheering crowd. The Box: Ledge Take Off Short but deep barrel Weak cutback Wave over.
