Is it true that you have to pay a FEE to go on the beach in season ????? WTF?? thats F'ed up if that's true. (no fee in OC in MD, just gotta deal with dummies from PA and wherever else, but that's every EC beach in the summer)
beach tags You have to pay a "fee" to get on every NJ beach, all or least 99% require beach badges, daily weekly or seasonal. All have various rates and exceptions. You also have to pay a "fee" drive on our roads to park its more than 1.50 an hour to park at most beaches. The state has even now increased the taxes to smoke and drink. So Dont come here its not worth it.
that's why you hop the boardwalks...only high schoolers work as the beach tag checkers. doesn't take much of a brain to get by them
I really hate that about New Jersey. Paying meters is one thing, but paying to get on the beach sucks... And, then doing both is even worse. I guess they have to pay for the beach replenishment costs some way or another. Better to come from the tourists then local city tax payers?
dude if you buy beach tags your a shoobie, i lived in oc all my life and have never owned a tag, heres what to say, if your walking to get on the beach and they ask to see one, tell them your mom, dad, husband or wife is on the beach with all the tags, works every day and every year
HAHAHA I do that too...theyre just like..well ok..and let you go. that or if you go to the southern and northern beaches and walk down/up to where you want to go works too.
Sneaking in or jumping the boards is the obvious solution, but still what in the world does the state do with all the money we give them? Why are beaches in other states free. Its almost as if they charge admission to the beach just to cover the pay of the tag nags and all that it is involved with beach badges. Also the pay to park deals, does it make sense to charge people to park to pay parking meter maids and all the ridicolous court costs involved with parking violations?
90% of towns with beaches are small, and the majority of their revenue comes from tourism. That being said, they can't tax the death out of the people who live there, or no one would ever be there... In NJ, the government doesn't give any money to the towns, for tourism, so anyone who works at the beach is paid by the town themself. So that money comes out of the beach tags. "But why don't they just not have anyone working there? then they don't have to charge us" -I guess you'd like going to a beach that has more trash than sand on it? I'm not gonna ****ing lie. NJ has some nice beaches for the amount of trash that comes to it. Yes you NYC and northern NJ bennies who come and trash it. When you bring food to the beach, throw your trash in the trash can, they are there for a reason. Life guards are nice. "But I can swim" some people can't, and its not the fact that you can't swim, if your board hits you in the head and you're unconscious, they're there for a reason. They get paid out f the tag fund. All this being said, paying to park sucks. And the price of tags could be less. But the town needs money for all its employees too, and taxing everyone to death won't do.
obvious answer is they do it to generate revenue, but why is their a need??? how can florida NY, MD, DE SC NC Rhode Island of all places provide free beaches, lower taxes limited charged parking and have higher paid beach patrols and municipal departments of work. And the "small towns" taxes cover all municipal costs including daily beach raking. And the state does provide money to the towns to operate their beach patrols and police to a degree. How they dont provide more being they bring in more money than any state in the nation on a daily basis is beyond me. The answer must be... why wouldnt they if they can. Why not flush more money down the toilet that is NJ gov't And yes are beaches are much nicer than most EC beaches, but that has nothing to do with money or gov't.
You got a problem with it, ***** to NJ. Not my fault they don't give the towns money to spend on their beaches. I was just telling you what they do.
just so you know im a local in nc and surf in sc at times and the beaches i go to in nc and sc do not rake their beaches and i know people that have been to almost every beach in nc and sc and say that most of them dont rake. plus down in wb NC my local beach we dont have lifegaurds out on jet skis all the time like some of you guys up north only when its the end of the season does the ski come out or for a big surf competition comes then it comes out but i have never seen it out on days im out during the summer. finally wb the tourism taxes pay for all of our stuff during the summer then when the beach needs to be renurished the state of nc has funds set aside for that. this is just my 2 cents.
yeah what i started doing is just walking on and when they ask for my tag just keep walking and dont pay any attention to them or even acknowledge the fact their there it works everytime never got stopped
I dont even remember the last time i paid to get on the beach in NJ, the only places off the top of my head that don't charge are Wildwood and i wanta say sandy hook(prob not, hey does island beach state park charge? i dont reme)...btw, just get there early, no one is around and do ur thing...and when the badge checkers come around (who are normally young kids or hot girls) just jump in the water, they have never bothered me. certain places i dont mind paying cause im just paying my friends lifeguarding pay
Woweeeee...... Don't worry, I won't be coming up there any time soon! Man, that sucks. OCMD beaches get some trash on them as well. But yes, during season, they comb them nightly. I do my part to pick up. (ever see the one boy who started the pick up 3 pieces of trash when you leave campaign?) Lifeguards only have like 2 skis, rarely ever see them around. Only see Ol' Troy on it occasionally. But, beach tags seems really lame to me. Not right. EVERYONE should be able to enjoy the beach for FREE. OCMD is supported by the state gov't definitely. Being it the only tourist beach in MD, they try to get anyone and everyone to come spend their hard-earned money here. They even hired a new spokesperson!! Oh WOW!! Some douche actor from NY (F@G) to act like he's some super cool guard, you'll now see him on all the tourism brochures. Hey, but you gotta have some way to pay for all the up-keep on the beaches, I guess the beach tags help? Meh.
Well, im guessing most of the money goes to replenishing the beaches, since from what I know most places(not all) dont have the problem of the beaches basically eroding every year and without dredging to add more sand there will be nothing left. I live in Cape May and the had an article about it last winter in the paper, since adding the jetties for the Cape May/Wildoowd inlet for the coast gaurd base years ago, it prevents the sand from reaching Cape May's beaches. Which then leads to Cape May having one of the most expensive beach replinshing projects in the world(or country i forget). You cant ell by the half mile beaches in wildwood and 20m beaches in Cape May.
