The Pope was speaking about the existence of angels in a Catechesis which means the "passing on of knowledge". This is typically done with children (as in Sunday School Class) and is the passing of info through story. No where does he reference anything about alien overloards or some half lizard race of aliens that came down and spliced DNA to create humans.
