I've been to popoyo a couple of times and I have never seen an atm. I always use the dollar, but I can't remember what the local exchange rate is. Where are you staying? The a-frame at popoyo is such a good wave and then it's a quick boat trip to lance's left and playgrounds to the north and manzanilla to the south. Also, colorados isn't to far by truck. It's such a fun place.

Cordovas are worthless. Bring USD. If you use the atm I suggest canceling the card immediately after you complete the transaction. You don't need much denero in Nicaragua anyway

popoyo reef is mainly a left. The right works too but not nearly as good as the left. Its an easy, playful wave that bends on the reef and great for working your roundhouses. The problem that i had with it is that it was PACKED with people. Granted, i went in july when it was waist to chest high and no signicant swell. Im sure when it gets bigger and if you are a decent surfer you will get more waves and the kooks will struggle. But be ready to compete for waves because there are also plenty of good surfers on it. Dont go there without the ability to travel around. If i could do Nica again i will say **** popoyo and go way up north to Chinadega.. "The boom."
    I didnt see any ATMs
