Not to be a ****, but why hate on the rich? If you don't take advantage of the opportunities that are offered to get ahead, you have no-one to blame but yourself. it's easy to tear others down but very tough to elevate yourself. Most rich people I know worked very hard to get that way and sacrificed more than most of us. While we play in the ocean, most of them are at work building their businesses. And who cares if their kids have it handed to them? At some point, those kids are going ot have to make it on their own and then they will pay if they are slackers.
I agree with the fact that alot of people that are rich are a-holes and need to be taken down a notch. Usually the a-holes are people that did not work hard for that money, but just inherited it. However there are others that did work hard for their money and they act cool. You can't hate on all of them. That is like hating on blacks or Jews because there are a few bad apples (there are plenty of fu<ked up white people too). However I strongly disagree with wanting the recession to get worst to teach anybody a lesson. The recession is hurting way more middle class/working people than it is the rich people.
If you guys never heard saw of it look up zeitgeist addendum. Not like promoting it but it is a good movie and it's pretty interesting. Worth a check.
Lower class and upper class always hates each other. and by the way, I've alredy knifed the land rover tires about 75 times, they just always replace them without a dent in their savings... haha no jk if someone has a land rover because they have indeed worked for it, i'm fine, but it's those stuck-up kids who are way over-priviliged in life that piss me off. I'll admit it, I come from an upper middle class/lower upper class family, but my parents never spoil me with crap like that unless I really earned it through me schoolwork and dedication.
thats a very true point. but where does a lot of money go for them, CARS, HOUSES ADDITIONS, CARS FOR KIDS WHEN THERE 13, 1,000 LAPTOPS AND THE BEST COMPUTERS. My sister is in a cleaning buisiness and one of her old customers has a 5 story house in sea bright and owns a apartment in new york, and she said she lives in florida and only comes up to one once a year. Now both houses gone, and shes in debt simple as that, you cant throw your money away just beacause you have it.
same here my parents just dont hand me something only if i earned it. but with a car my parents only spend 5 thousand on me for a car. but they will probably be giving me my moms explorer and getting her a new car. but you dot see me walking around with an iphone hell i have a friend with one and he dropped it and cracked the screen bad also the school i go to if i had one it would get stolen through the locker room. but this whole economy thing needs to get better because my dads retirement is in stocks miostly with ge since he woks for them and they control the retirement money. but i need to get through college. but this whole thing will get people on same level and enjoy the simple stuff that we have. and hell if we surfers dont have waves even if its knee high go out it relaxes my body and should help others as well. just enjoy life.
yea haha... to be honest, my favorite size to surf is anywhere from thigh to chest because I've come to like longboarding more than shortboarding (I aim more for style than forcing anything). That's not to say I don't like 8 ft. tubes or peeling head high glassy dawn patrol walls!!
i have to say as a grom that since i was taught in small surf i like from thigh-chest. but i can handle the head high stuff just as well. especially on a nice hurricane head offshore day thats what i like with perfect rights all the way with some nice little tubes.
I like the mellower stuff better for sure because I hate long, annoying, draining paddles. ...even though here in Jersey they're not that long, but on an east groundswell when it's closin out, it may not be a far paddle compared to obx paddles, but the level of effort is definitely pretty high.
i dont hate on the rich, if they earned it then good for them, and as a student in highschool going to college soon i aspire be one of them, and even the snobby rich people that get everything handed down to them, yes their annoying and ignorant but its not going to affect the amount of money i make or the way i live. i don't think we hit bottom, and i personally from the things i read and taught in my econ class n learning about US history now i think the gov't should leave people alone, cut taxes, and try to get people to spend, not put me in debt for the rest of my life! we need to get the ***** out of wallstreet and reorganize. and shakagrom and wbsurfer, i think im your age and i disagree, when its over head i feel like i finally get to try moves that i see in movies and stoked that im not surfing thigh high mush and actually do some good size bottom turns. Hannah= ideal conditions because i finally was able to try stuff because it was actually walling up consistantly.
yeah im good in head high stuff as well with bottom turns and what not. but as we live on the east coast we have to be good in the thigh high mush as well . but everyone pray that this spring sends us some good swell.
a little late to this thread... but my $0.02 1) for a good background on the situation and to get a reasonably non-partisan view check out this video: http://www.chrismartenson.com/crashcourse 2) i dont know who else trades on here (i trade futures, f#ck stocks!!!), there is some great insight here: http://www.youtube.com/user/futuresanalysts 3) IMHO the world is at a tipping point. the US is a nation of debt spending, and increasing that debt as we just have will have signicant future repercussions. I cant imagine a scenario in which obama's policies work (and i like the guy!!) but we just have to wait and see. No one can predict the future, and anyone who thinks they know what 'will' happen is an assclown. Its like surfing, you dont know what the wave is going to do the day before you surf. you get out, assess it, catch a wave and react to its behavior. "peasants predict, kings react."
Just my .02 It was the companies giving credit to all these people who werent qualified for loans to buy things (mostly houses) that they couldnt afford. Jus turn yo swag on.
Where i live i have yet to see the impact of our failing economy....ive been fortuante enough to have a really good life and my dad to have a job that although it was expected for his company to lose alot of buisness but his company has actaully been doing better than ever....seems alot of people are investing in industrial reality lately...much of his money that he has saved was not invested in more trustworthy positions than in stocks...it seems that many people have been cutting back on many things they do not need even though many people in my area hav enot lost their jobs or are taking lower pay...it seems they are jsut scared by rumors...also small buisness is always a risk...those buisnesses open and close all the time whether the economy is poor or not
bull****. the small buisness I was with when it closed was over 30 years old. your trying to tell me that has nothing to do with the economy? How did it survive for thirty years? the one I'm with now has been open for 35 and is at it's breaking point. How could they have both survived for so long but suddenly drop off to the point of no profit? small buisness is a chance to a point, but both who've I've been with has a reputable name, quality product, and regulars.. pay rate has flatlined. Mine. My brother got a paycut, and he works for Budwieser. My sister unemployed, a bunch of friends out of work. Don't get me wrong it is alot of hype, but it's still happening, to alot of people.
