I heard that if you get pulled in DE and you can't pay the ticket at that moment, they take you to jail.

    Moron, "machots", really?

First of all I grew up in none of your f'ing business. Seems like you don't have the requisite reading comprehension skills for this forum so I'll help you. I didn't compare the two, ECKneelo said Nj was "a million times nicer as far as beaches go". He made the comaprison. I found it to be a sweepeing generalization and thought it worth mentioning that not ALL NJ beaches are a "million times bettter" than all DE beaches.

    Do you get it now?

Er ah dude, first I am not a kid, second I didn't compare NJ to DE, go back and read/pull your head out. Third, I'm pretty sure I got the nickel, which looks just like an American one, at a store in DE. Yeah, there is something wrong about whining like she did over a nickel.
If you have less hate in your mind, you might be able to get your facts straight, and be friendly to the other fellow surfers in here.

Come on guys! You all are b*tchin about trying to find ways to break the rules. Freaking grow up! I have been surfing the south and north side for over 25 years. nothing has changed. you got to pay to go to the park! put a friggen crow bar in the wallet and spring for a $27 park pass thats good all year. No you cant get a beach drive on pass and expect to go surfing all day. Its for surf-fishing only. But you can do other stuff as well. When we drive out, my wife and/or father are surf-fishing and i every once in a while will surf about 100 yards away from them to not bring attention to ourselves...but they are surf fishing! If you think you can toss a rod with sinker in and go surfing all day...you deserve the huge fine. i know some of the rangers down there and they are good guys. one is always out surfing after work both north and south sides and at the tower beach. they don't hate surfers they just hate it when you guys try to break the rules and act like morons when you get caught. obey the rules and everyone is happy!

I don't really have a problem with the Rangers (they are usually more leniant if you are in state) I have been caught with my dog not on the leash, and not really surf fishing. They usually just say "don't do that" and then move on. However, I thought it was really messed up when they hand out a bunch of parking tickets on a day that you can't buy a parking pass anywhere . I buy a surf fishing permit every year, but I usually don't worry about it until closer to the season(when the booths start opening). Regardless, I didn't b1tch about it since he let me off.

    Today in History

Apparently, DE has been doing this S for at least 30 years now. Check the image I made of a scan of the Washington Post today (03-27-09). Coincidental that this came up relative to this thread.

My bad ECKneelo, I just assumed you were a kid because you thought that your not spending money in another state to spite a toll booth worker was logical. I did not mean mean it as an insult. And it was NJsurf who I meant to quote, not you. You did not make the comparison but simply stated that "DE sucks".

It's OK El Porto;) I just had to comment on my episode because it seems really unfair that they would hand out parking tickets when there is nobody there to take the parking fee.

    AC Is nicer

Hey I dunno about all this canadian money and toll booth BS, but I will defend the fact AC is nicer than Bethany. Because can you see a concert, eat at a 5 star restuarant, gamble in 12 different casinos, shop at some of the best stores in the world, and surf the steel pier all in one day. Or could you see a UFC title fight or WBC title fight, dabble in the underworld of prositution, illegal drugs, and gangs that you would only see on HBO and then surf in ocean city NJ which is near by or anywhere in AC all in one day. Also what does bethanny beach have to offer that 20 of our touristy beach locations dont have, besides the fact your tourists are rednecks and ours are people from the cities. Also one word Borgata...cant beat it. I would bet that most people would rather stay a weekend in AC over bethanny beach. SO by comparing your supposed best beach to what you feel is one of NJ's worst beaches and failing to have it be "better or nicer" just further supports my comment. Delaware beaches are a nice for what they are.....a place to stop and see on your way down to OBX or anywhere other than there.

I hear you, and to each his own. I actually posed the question about Fenwick, not Bethany and am not from either so I don't care. In fairness though there alot of people out there who find AC to be a disgusting cesspool. But you are right, Bethany does not compare when it comes to gangs, violent crime or prostitution.

I don't want to be seen as an unfair basher on DE. so let me add that growing up in California, and free surf, it is against my religion to pay for beach tags in NJ. or anywhere else. That's all, carry on men. :D

I prefer Delaware. Taxes are lower, tourists are nicer. One thing to appreciate here in DE is the amount of coast that is state park that will always be there. If we didnt have a state park system you would have the crap thats happening along the bethany/IR corridor with gated communities. Now imagine that all along Rte 1. I am thankful to have parks and easy acess. Sure it could be better, but it could be worse.
Nothing like surfin LBI off season, yes, but summer? forget it. Between Vinnie the shoobie from exit 138 and Dirk the local its craziness. Water and air temps go lower by a few degrees in the winter too.

Delaware may not have an AC, but I swear we have some of the cleanest and softest sand of most of the beaches I have been to.

    Thanks!

    David,
Thanks for the "heads up." Early last week I nabbed one of those payment envelopes at the unattended gate and inserted my $8 reluctantly figuring who ever checked these things anyway, and wanting to provide a model in honesty to my youngest son who was with me. In retrospect, dmnd good thing I did. Curiously you can park at the marina at no charge, it's just a longer walk. How do they justify an $86 fine for parking? What's an out-of-state pass cost if they'll even sell them to you? And yes, you do have to give the South Bethany police credit for being as obvious as they are about speed traps. Every time I head that way, and it's not often, they're ALWAYs in the same spot on the median strip. It's quite an effective deterrent to violations. Maybe they could use a fake car like the Maryland State Police did one time on Rt. 50 in Berlin- but then that car was stolen by some ner-do-well. Must now be a dorm decoration for some college surfer.

    MD state police

I never understood how they could get away with putting up a decoy speed trap car. Good thing it did get stolen. MD state police were always greedy f---ers on rt. 50, ballsy too they just step out into the road with their hand up to pull you over. Speed limit on that road could be at least 65 in most spots.

just got my annual pass, interestingly in the info about the pass it says its good at all state parks except Ft. delaware, Brandywine Zoo and the State Line beach at Fenwick Island?
Whats up with that? I know I've been to state line and used a park pass...

Are you f*cking kidding me??!! AC is a f*cking DUMP compared to Bethany and I surf South Jersey. you obviously havent been to BB that much to know who goes there. The rednecks are in south OCMD but I'd take rednecks over AC guidos any day.
