how much wiggle room is there in the price of a consignment board in a shop? I've never bought used from a shop before... CB Bonzer in pristine shape, listed at 499.

The consignment price is set by the board's owner, not the shop...so, unless the shop can get a hold of the owner and ask, you're stuck with the asking price.

Usually, the shop will try to get the owner to start at a low price to begin with, so they can move it and get their commission quickly. I've sold boards on consignment...if the shop would have called me, I wouldn't have dropped my already low price.

Often if the board has been there for a long time the shop will be more apt to contact the owner in order to lower the price. Usually its an easy haggle for you as the buyer because you have a third party doing the talking. Try an offer thats not gonna piss him/her off too much, you can always move up. Typically the shop will have the amount they want, and the amount that the owner will settle for so you just have to try. Also see if the guy has it on CL himself, I've seen that and you can contact them directly and they will take it from the shop and sell it to you for less because there is no commission for the shop that way. Rare chance but possible. You may piss off said shop in the process so be carefull if you go there alot, def keep it to yourselves.

odd are the seller wants it sold so prob a little wiggle room. don't lowball though, leave that for craigslist. board owner just gets store credit in most shops so he/she is prob anxious to get a new stick. worth a shot.
