Thanks bro ...Yea that's the goal knee to waist deep whitewater ...just position and popping not even thinking of catching a wave anytime soon main goal is to get up and balanced..I paddled it out some just to see how the board paddled etc... paddled great turning it around was a different story but a breaking wave took care of that and also knocked the board and me sideways..lol

I haven't been to the washouts since we watched a surf competition back in 1988 or so. If i go to folly it's around the pier usually

To turn easier, sit up on the board and sink the tail. Another thing you can do, paddle for a few waves and jsut ride them in on your stomach. Get a feel of when the wave actually pics you up and carries you. This will hopefully help prematurely standing up or ejaculation, which ever. HA

I rode one in laying down..after paddling out... I think the tourists on the beach were saying that's a quite large bodyboard out there..

Hey Frost, love your song in your first post. Solid advice here.

If the conditions aren't dangerous, keep paddling out, or catching whitewater no matter what. It improves your paddling, your balance, your ability to read different waves and currents, pretty much everything, even if popping up isn't perfect. Each failure teaches you something about the water and improves your surfing.

Yea I don't ever give up.. I knew it wasn't gonna be anything easy and my original timeline was to accomplish standing by end of summer so all in all I learned a lot today and will learn more Tomm ..sat .. Etc

Nope not at all I lift weights fairly regularly work two jobs one as security/crowd control ... My knees aren't the best in the world from years of pounding on concrete but they work ive found it is better to set small long term goals and surpass them ... Compared to setting lofty goals and failing them

Frost, sometimes it helps to try this, instead of 'poping' up, specially since your older:

Just try to drag your front knee up under your chest and left your feel follow and rotate a little to the side while holding the rails. Then let go but stay crouched. Don't try to get up on your knees. Bad idea and really really really bad habit. Really bad. Don't do it again. I know they show that knee move in the point break movie, but it doesn't work.

Ok- keep going out bro. Remember it takes time!

Btw- you wouldn't happen to know a guy that goes by the name 'gruvi' would you? He is usually known for buying 'friends' pizza???
Ok just checking, thought it would be good to ask.

Frost dude, rather than set a goal for the end of summer to pop up and get to your feet, make that the goal on EVERY SINGLE WAVE. Eventually it'll happen. You're going to accept failure for the next several months if you set a goal that far away. You could be on your feet in a few sessions if you change your mindset. Don't over think it, just go for it.
