You are an esteemed member of this wave predictin forum, so you got that going for ya!

I was gonna comment on the overall sketchiness of Peru, especially Lima, but you nailed it. Once my buddy didn't have change for a $100, he just got off the plane in Lima. On his way to his girlfriend's parents hacienda he went to a bar, ordered a drink, and flashed the C note. Soon his head was spinning, as the bartender dosed him. He staggered out of the bar, into a taxi cab, but not the yellow taxi, the other one. They took him to the ghetto Victoria, and tried to get him into an abandoned building so they could steal his kidneys. He is 6'4" and managed to get out of their grasp, and ran down the street until someone called him a real taxi and took him to his rich girlfriends parents house.

That sh1t can happen down here in Riviera Beach if you let your guard down.

indeed lima can be dangerous; un-imaginable dark type persons.......and class hatred/rage....and
politics run amok....danger everywhere for a stupid gringo....but the waves were good.

another thing i learned traveling there is to bring stacks of 10/5/1 dollar bills. they love that gringo money and always take it but NEVER have change. sounds as if your friend learned the hard way.

In that area...Grande, Avellanas, Negra, Marbella. and a boat up to witches and ollies.
if your renting a vehicle, spend a day or 2 at each spot instead of one spot like Tamarindo.

Whenever i get back to the flatness of the east coast and the perpetual doom that is New England, I can always count on swell info to make my day a little less ****ed.

Hey Baddy, from some of your posts it sounds like karma paid you back with sweet waves down in Peru. Do you think it was a fair trade? :)

    natural law applies.
    i survived therefore yes.
    peru has class 'A' surf.
the left point in lima - herradura - alone is GOLDEN.
punta hermosa - about 15 different breaks in about 5 mi....
the break senoritas in front of sofias' house........weeeeeedeeeeeewwweeeeee!
big, small, fat and skinny....makes C.A. look junior varsity.

also, where do you think all those hot surfer brazzo types learned?
    their stinky country?
    nooooooooooooooooooo.......

surfcosta.com I went with 4 levels of surfers from beginner to intermediate and the breaks worked out perfectly. Great guide named Bryan.

Glad you scored and made it back in one piece Baddy!

Interesting point about the brazzos. I could see that, once they get some funding bailing the fock out of Brazil and going for empty peaks in Peru. Are brazzos accepted there? Or are they running a Peruvian Da Hui and meeting them in the parking lot?

I heard that the river mouths get some crocodile action in the rainy season? Or one of the seasons? Anyone know anything about this? Apparently crocs snatch surfers once in a while...

I'd rather deal with a shark than a croc. I see a shark and figure its probably not interested in me. I see a croc and think its VERY interested in me. And they way they just sit motionless and stare. Like seeing barracuda underwater when they'll just sit motionless and stare at you. Freaky.

IIRC somebody posted up here a while back about having to paddle back across the river mouth after dark, the getting out and seeing all the eyes staring at them in the water. Extra-helping of NOPE for that one.

the peruvian hui has been busting their heads with varying degrees of success for at least the last
40 years. more than once the little ole american guy stole waves at the peak while those two factions
brawled. i sucked up to both sides.

the tamarindo rivermouth is super crocky. when i was there they just shot one for eating peoples dogs. found like 5 different dogs in its stomach. I never saw any but its spooky at dark. Everyday when i stayed in tamarindo I would paddle across that river at mid afternoon, run a few miles to playa grande. It would always fire there right before dark, so I would end up surfing till dark and having to run back and paddle across the river mouth at pitch black. Spoookey, especially when you paddle out into the surf and your way far out at night to beat the current.

Super spooky, and I stopped doing it once my buddy said he saw a croc swimming in the lineup a few days before...

Dayum dude you got bigger stones than me. I don't think there's a wave in the world that could get me to paddle in the dark across a croc infested river.

At least sharks can't follow you home and eat your dog.

yes please for the love of god don't go to tamarindo. There is so much good surf down in the southern zone. If you are a natural foot try the osa peninsula. Its so tropical down there compared to rest of country
