so i am thinking about going surfing before work but won't really be able to let my suit dry out afterwards. i think ill have time to rinse it out well but thats about it. is it ok to leave them wet for a while? it'll be sitting in my car in a tub, I've thought about filling the tub with a little water to keep it moist instead of... i don't know. less moist.

its a new suit and I'm trying to take really good care of it so i would be bummed if i messed it up

thanks for any comments or genius methods

    Surf, rinse, repeat.

hang it in the cubicle of your co-worker you like least...if you are in a place that still requires booties, those are a must as well

imo, don't ever let taking care of your suit compromise your time in the water...neoprene only lasts a couple of years, anyhow.

We all know salt corrodes rubber, but my theory is letting the suit dry with salt on it is exponentially worse than if it stays wet...the salt is no longer diluted, but actually concentrated.

I leave mine salty wet in the car all the time and I haven't noticed any more degradation than when I rinse immediately after a sesh. Actually wearing it and/or hanging it from the shoulders puts the worst wear and tear on a suit.

I agree with waterbaby... Wetsuite only last a few years anyways.

Although I do regularly rinse mine and hang it to dry on one of those huge plastic hangers that the wetsuite came with...

If you leave it in your car during the day after surfing- it's not going to be a problem. Specially if it's in a plastic tub. I would keep a lid on it tho- unless you like the stink. Adding a little water would be helpful until you can get home to properly rinse it out and hang dry. Although it's not going to dry in a tub in your car. I use to do that with mine often in the back of my truck. I was more worries about the wax melting all over and my board cooking in the hot car/sun all day. Get a good board bag to help with that.

    Good question.

Let it sit in a tub of water if there's no place to hang it at work.

You are overthinking things. You won't hurt it. I would just loosely wrap it in your towel and toss it in your trunk, and don't give it a second thought. Hang it when you get home. I do this quite a bit and I get years out of my suites

I generally take good care of my things, but I abuse my wetsuites. Rarely rinse them. Only truly wash them once or twice a year, and they last just as long as when I took great care of them.

In my opinion, the real enemy to a wetsuit is leaving them in the sun. That seems to do more damage in my experience than anything.

I would say this is how my suits spend about 50+days every year for at least the last couple decades...sitting in a tub, wet from the morning session, maybe rinsed maybe not, while at work for the rest of the day. They will be fine.

Like pkovo said, sun is the enemy of neoprene, not moisture.

Well yeah, I guess if you naturally stink like the grill at your local Waffle House, then maybe this technique could stink up your car in a day, but if yo're normal and bathe regularly, no worries, your car will be odor free.
