Yes we do (have it pretty good) brew. Can't disagree with your points here. The defense budget is so busting at the seams. Many domestic agendas are quite costly too. The feds are wasteful period.

I live near the VA/NC border and there is a toll that comes out of VA and in to NC. I can't imagine how much that thing pulls in a year with all the folks heading to the banks. It seems like the City of Chesapeake has stepped it up with the roadways over the years as I pass through there all the time and watched some of the changes.

I just think as a whole the US has spent it's way into a quandary and higher taxes and inflation are going to eat our lunch.

Definitely can't argue with you on your "southern states" comment!

wow, golly gee wilikers, id pay for service that I used and it was privatized, and Id have cash to do it as i wouldn't have been taxed for the same service that was administered in a half a$$ed fashion. but holeee fock balls really thats your tired argument Riley?

the gvt is so good at providing services eh? the level of ineptitude in all levels indicates a gross mismanagement of resources that I provide.

let me pay for using something, nothing more nothing less

your love it or leave comment is akin to 'dey tuk r jebs'

    Tired argument?

    It's well-rested, dog.

Ok MIS, you make a list of all the services you get from the government, local, state and federal........

Then realistically think what way is cheaper.

See, you get to call the cops all the time without cost. In your way, some security guard will show-up and bill you....each time. That will add up. And that's just your police usage....

Love it leave it has nothing to do with They Took Our Jobs. That's aboot Mexicans not taxes.

What government services are so mismanaged? So, something so large as the fed gov has to be perfect?

Is your freakin place of employment totally efficient and perfect?

Nah, it's not. None of your places are. And they are sooo small.

So, do all of you guys sit around and b!tch or do you do something aboot it?

Don't pay income taxes. Hey, buying PCP off the streets is illegal but if that is what you're aboot you take the risk. Wesley Snipes wasn't afeared.

So you guys should move to the fourth world then because we pay the least taxes in the first world.

I am normally a peaceful, happy go lucky sort, BUT...

The words have not yet been invented which can adequately describe my visceral hatred for the IRS.

Yeah, we need to pay SOME taxes, but WTF?!?

Underground economy until they stop shakin me down to buy stupid crap I don't need.

Gotta say, I don't mind paying taxes. I worked in non-profits and mental health for a long time. Lots of helpless folks out there that can't fend for themselves. Lots of eeeeeeediots that are a product of being raised by bigger eeeeeeeediots. Our strength as a society is how we take care of those who cannot take care of themselves. I live in Vermont. The roads are ****. The human services are exceptional. Im kinda proud of that.

the only daily service I really get is mail. trash, fire and ambulalance I pay for and I take care of my own home and personal defense. When my car got broken into at work, those cops wouldnt even come out....

I guess you could add my kids scool but we have high accountablitly in our district with bad teachers quickly removed so I don't have an issue paying for that.

Here's a good link on waste? http://thehill.com/regulation/admin...low-in-ending-duplicative-government-programs Private sector has a vested interest in running as lean as possible but government has none.

Certainly something to be proud of. I have volunteered too with non profits for the less fortunate. We need more of this in society. But not the Howard Dean way (no offense to your fine state) on a federal level. How much in taxes would you be willing to pay? 50%...70%? My problem is gov't waste not helping the less fortunate.

The problem is the fraud in the entitlement programs run by the federal and state gov't. I have worked directly with a life long social worker from NYC and one thing that stuck from my convos with her is the culture of entitlement. She discussed the way that young kids are groomed to "play" the system. She said because of fraud alone, that up to 50% of the cases are "played" (her words).

Anyway, not heck of a lot I can do to fix it on a surf forum but fun to discuss with other surfers....I'm gonna go surf now. Light winds and the tide is dropping!!!!

Waste in gov't could pay national debt. No accountability. Need term limits so representatives will do what's right.

how about this...a Constitutional amendment to prohibit voting for a person works for the government or is public assistance (not including SS since that is based on money you paid).

This is silly, it takes massive amounts of government funded infrastructure just to get food on your plate every day.

Despite massive amounts of government funded infrastructure, you somehow manage to get food on your plate every day.

Until they need to get bailed out from another country by their suddenly favorite uncle (uncle magic, of course!)
Cause Mexico would send Blackhawks to come get your a$$, too.

Personally, I think the apocalypse is gonna be a lot of fun. When these nacho libres run out of bullets, the tail goes back between the legs and you start hearing that hollow whimpering...

    That being said, F taxes!

nice deflection but the arrogance that somehow the government pays for this stuff tells me you are in government since that is how most bureaucrats think.
