Yea, Neil Young is solid artist. Sounds like a great cause. Hope the proceeds go to keeping Clinton out of office!

If you're against what Neil is boycotting, then the repugnitards aren't for you. But from the tone of yer post, you support anything that Fox news tells you to.

I'm a massive fan of Neil's early material, but he was over for me by the early 80s. Great cause, but I can't imagine sitting through an entire protest album by him.

It's not the vocals reminiscent of a dying cat, is it?

no, that's always been his vocals. It's just his style fit better in late 60s and 70s music.

Not only was he an incredible lyricist, he had a very original western/acoustic folk sound that was very appealing to me in high school...he was my Bob Dylan. Neil inspired me to learn acoustic guitar...and sing along. He created "grunge"...20 years before it blew up.

When I listen to his old stuff, it transports me to a different place, not only in time, but in space. Massive catalog of hits...still love it when they play on the radio (yeah, I still listen to the classic station, sometimes).

Rust Never Sleeps (1979) was the last of the good material...everything after that took a giant dive and never recovered...imo.

I agree. At my high school, there was a whole clique of people (including teachers) that practically idolized Dylan...might have even been a club of some sort. I never understood the fascination. Watchtower and Heaven's Door were so-so (cover versions were superior), but that's about it.

I'm a buyer. Neil has been making great music his whole life, and continues to do so.

    And Monsanto sucks.

Boycotting something that you will never even know if you are consuming sounds like a really worth while action. Especially considering Monsanto is just a mid-level player in the GMO world, and most of the GMO seed manufacturers also sell organic/non-GMO seed.

Careful, you're drifting into O Barry territory. Does Monsanto even have any consumer products in the U.S.?

I agree Neil was grunge before grunge drop D an all. Not the best voice but a hella of a good lyric writer. Some guys don't have to use every note/chord on the guitar to make a good song. Good music to learn guitar on too.
