I have to go there for a week and I'm wondering if it's worth taking a surfboard and/or bodyboard. Any ideas?
my mother has a b&b there, lots of rocky points and sandbars, big tidal change, but if you've got the time I'm sure you can find something. As a back up take you're bike, the whole island is laced with great trails. Good luck
this is the area, where you want a boat to explore the offshore islands and reefs. If you get enough E/SE swell, I imagine bar harbor will break. But a S swell will go right on by.
Unfortunately I won't have the chance to explore by boat. But thanks for the tip: I'll keep an eye out for the swell direction and explore. In any case, we'll be spending a day at Higgins beach, so I'll be visiting the forcast for Cape Elizabeth and hope for one good day.
