it depends if your willing to lose half of inch off the nose? but take it to a repair guy and see what they would say that would be your best bet.

i just had the nose and rail repaired on 2 of my boards...they got banged up on the way back from my vacation. one of the boards is a tuflite flyer, it came out ok, nose was reshaped...cost me $120 for both boards

never fly american airlines, they treat u and your stuff like ****, they have no customer service

Rounded noses make you look too much like a seal as opposed to pointy noses.

With the recent downturn in the economy causing mass suicide by wall streat brokers, leaking blood into the New York City stormdrain system, and then directly discharging into the Atlantic Ocean....a substantial chum line has been noticed drifting with the longshore sand transport currents from Long Island down thru Duck/Waves NC.

In other words, this is not a good time to be looking like a seal in the lineup, stick to the pointy nose.

That sounds like a pretty easy fix. Surftech sells matching spray paint which is pretty much dead on. If you can work with epozy, there are websites that will detail the repair process; if not, have it repaired to preserve the value of your board. If you don't have the funds then round it off, it will surf the same.

if your friend brought it back damaged,
shouldn't he/she offer to get it fixed? honor system?

I have had good experiences with American Airlines over the past 15 to 20 years. My only b*tch and moan was getting charged surfboard rates going down to Costa Rica (but not back). First time on American in decades! Wrong person, wrong time - the old wench actually went into a back room to get a key out to unlock and drawer to pull out a measuring tape. Menopause is rough. It is a "bodyboard" for pete's sake!

imagine paying $100 extra to ship the board just to have them bang it and almost ruin it so you can pay $120 in repairs...its ridiculous, and they have a 24 hr policy for u to bring back your damaged stuff or its impossible to get any compensation and they make it impossible to file a complaint or talk to someone in customer service

I can't argue with your complaints about getting screwed - service on most of the airlines has gone to hell. On the other hand, consider what airlines you can actually check a board without taking out a line-of-credit... and many airlines simply don't accept boards anymore (e.g., British Airways). Southwest Airlines is tops in the USA. American has been good to me on trips to PR, CR, Hawaii and the West Coast. Delta, NWA have gone south. Continental is in limbo since forming an alliance with United and others. Watch those code shares, too.

One of the recent unbelievable stories is my sister being charged $100 by Spirit Airlines for my father to get a security pass to meet my 12 yo nephew at the gate (since Spirit won't escort a kid that age).
