Without going into the gory details, this past Sunday coming back from surfing Assateague by boat, we had a minor mishap. Let's just say the first gas tank on our boat ran out at the worst possible moment and we ended up swamped on Assateague about 3/4 of a mile south of the Inlet. Total yardsale, but we were able to recover the boat and all the boards except one. It was about 1pm and there was a SE seabreeze, so none of the boards could have possibly drifted anywhere but up into the corner where the wedge is. My friend Shawn was able to get all the boards on the beach fairly quickly except one of mine. When we went back to get it, it was gone. We looked up and down the entire beach and there was not a trace of it. It was a 6'6" rounded-pin SurfTech Bushman, Pancho Sullivan model. It had a gray bottom, white top and red rail highlights. It also had a matching track-top (gray, white w/ red highlights). The board was in great condition and was in a Ocean Earth board bag (blue top, silver bottom). Whoever took it must have seen what was going on, I mean how can you miss a 18' boat and 4 surfers washing up on the beach? There were about 6 people down toward the wedge when this happened and no one bothered to come over to help us out or bring anything back. In fact, the people dissappeared pretty quickly, which leads me to believe someone in the group snatched the board. Talk about an opportunist, pretty low if you ask me. At any rate, if anyone sees this board on a used rack, on someone's car or in the water, please contact me at ocsurfnut{at}mchsi.com. My name's Will Smith, I've lived here in Ocean City, MD all my life (a lot of you probably know me or my brother Teddy or dad George), and I'll give a $100 reward to the person who can return this board to me, no questions asked. Thank you all for your attention on this. See you in the water! Will
Hey Will, I assume that you have contacted all of the surf shops around here and the pawn shops. You might get lucky and catch the f**ker trying to sell it. Good luck!
Yeah, I thought that my board was stolen once and really someone just returned it to Kcoast as a lost board..... might get lucky.
Thats messed up man. To know someone you surf with is gonna go and take your stuff like that. I don't understand why a surfer would do dat to a feller surfer?
No one has respect. One of the things everyone "preaches" about. And how they should have respect in the lineup... I guarantee that the asshole who took it, if you dropped in on them, they would ***** about respect in the lineup but shows no respect anywhere else. Sorry for the loss mate
not to be rude but of all the boards to go missing thats the one to lose. i used to have the same one road it in all sorts of conditions even hawaii for 3 months it 100% sucked at everything!! my 2nd worst board i ever had next to my al merrick flyer2 sueftech
That really sucks - I got a feeling that if any of us see your board around that it won't be leaving with whoever brought it to the beach
Well I've called the "big 3" surf shops in OC, been checking eBay and Craigslist daily, and called the Assateague National Parks service. Nothing yet. As windswellsucks said, it wasn't the greatest board (needed concave in my opinion), but it was decent, plus it was almost brand new, and not cheap... ah well, at least all my boys are okay, and I've got a backup board. Thanks to everyone for your replies, and for keeping an eye out.
Lol the stuff that is posted on here never ceases to amaze me. 7 years later. Maybe it's beyond the statute of limitations. Had that same stick in a 6'10. Pretty damn good board and durable as hell. Wish I still had it now when I'd be able to surf it a lot better these days in bigger swells.
