In addition, the ordinance does not prohibit the use of drones “by not-for-profit, licensed, or accredited educational research colleges, universities or scientific institutions for educational, scientific, environmental or resource management purposed in the airspace over the beach with township between Labor Day and Memorial Day.” Yo Sniffer tell me what you think aboutz Mancini
You should start a new thread. "Best Beach Towns for Drones" or something. Sent from my Kenner Close N' Play
nice... after reading the article it looks like they can be flown over the ocean... but not the beach, so its unclear if filming surfing is ok. I have seem some awesome shots from drone with surfing.... BUT I also agree with the new ordinance- they could be easily used for the wrong purposes- spying, theft and break-ins...
Sniffer I guess you missed my PJB dollar I left at the Sandpaper Kiosk in front of SC Panzone's. Oh well. Eating chicken wings is illegal on Surf City beaches from May 30 - Sept. So is throwing a football on the beach. No, I'm not kidding.
While drones are prohibited in any airspace below 400 foot within township borders, they are not restricted from flying over the ocean or bay, as these waters are not the jurisdiction of the municipality.
