Dude, Duck to Corolla usually ain't where the action is at, but you never know. If it is working you'll be by yourself most likely getting it done. Up towards Corolla there is this large area called Ocean Sands which can produce a sandbar here and there that gets the Viagra going. Summer time there will be people there. This Ocean Sands place is divided into sections. Give Section H,I,J a peak. Drive straight-in and look for the tennis courts. There will be a parking lot there. The beach is a block east bound. Check it out. Look south and north. There are security dudes in this area but you should be good parking in the lot. Tell them you're waiting for your pals who are in TOWN. Sometimes the block before the FOOD LION in Corolla was alright. The Duck Pier can be swell. Park at the Sunset Grill's parking lot and be prepared to walk a bit. Once in a while, The Lighthouse, Currituck that is, can be ok. IF nothing up north tickles your fancy: Check the Kitty Hawk pier....it's, like, right where you enter the OBX from 158/168. If you like some summer time action full of groms, chicks, and other surf hounds, 1st St in Kill Devil Hills is where you want to be. Fairly consistent town spot to boot. Plenty of options down there, but check Jennette's Pier(headed into South Nags Head, Whalebone Junction, look for a Catholic Church and a 7-11) an old favorite of mine. Then there is Down South.... Cosmo's Pizza in Corolla and Southern Shores is good. Southern Shores location is(was) better. Lighthouse Bagles in Corolla(Food Lion complex) is the sh!t. Jersey people own it. Best bagel sandwiches, dude. The place is awesome so enjoy. Plenty of good food and stuff. Watch the drinking and driving, as the cops are the definition of over-zealous down there. Watch out for Uncle Rick in Corolla. Plenty of eastern European college workers in Corolla, too. So, familiarize yourself with Dracula and gypsies. Any more questions just ax me. I'm very giving today.
Duck sux. Why drive all that way south to simply turn north and drive another half hour back up? GO TO PEA ISLAND.
Make sure you go to the Quick Stop Gas Station, mile marker 10 for a breakfast sandwich, best you will ever have!!! Biscuits and Porn!!!
how does a thermos keep things hot AND cold? for SS
Insulation blocks the rapid flow of heat. Insulated containers keep cold things cold by keeping outside heat from coming in. They keep hot things hot by not allowing the heat inside to escape. A thermos uses some of the best insulation there is, a vacuum. The thermos container has two shells, an inner and an outer shell. When the thermos is made, the air between the two shells is sucked out and the two shells are sealed together so air cannot get in.
is that real?lol.reminds me of an old family guy episode,il take 2 pallets of chicken,3 drums of oil.aw man that's wrong in so many ways
I'm from southern parts of the outerbanks, hatteras and avon area. If theres a great incoming swell and good offshore winds, head to the cape hatteras lighthouse, great spot there. If you're not looking to/can't travel that far south, go north of Corolla if you have a 4 wheel drive truck to the 4x4 area, usually pretty good up there and theres no crowd at all. Hope this helps.
Hey did they ever let people go back to the point. Or is it still closed off for the Birds nesting. Those damn Audubon people, I was surfing Avon down the beach from the pier during Gonzalo's and I'll tell you what it got massive that was such an awesome swell. I was disappointed it was all rights saw a lot of broken boards those two days.
Access to the point is kinda seasonal and varies depending on when the piping plover are mating or nesting or whatever. You can view the current access (or lack thereof) here: http://www.nps.gov/caha/planyourvisit/beachactivities.htm#ORV Pretty much closed now. I was in Buxton two years ago and, though it was closed to ORVs, you could still walk out there. So we did. Parked at Ramp 44 and trekked about two miles, a quarter mile of which we had to keep feet-in-water. Passed a few folks along the way but when we got out there it was amazing. There was nobody else there. Not a soul or sole. Been to the point I don't know how many times and there's always been somebody else there, even at four in the morning. So it was awesome to be at this beautiful place with nobody else around. I guess I should thank the SELC, DoW or Audubon folks for being able to experience it that way. Not that I agree with their extreme views and actions. The politics and money behind all that is quite remarkable.
Dude - don't listen to these wanabe assh*les - accept that nobody is gonna give away "secret spots" (even if their spots are really crap, but they don't know any better, and try to look for better spots - and a lot depends on the tides, and wind - just go down, stop and keep checking sites, and you'll prob. find some breaks, and may meet some nice guys who will give you some suggestions - these jersey and other mid-atlantic guys like to make pretend that they've got a "lock" on some "special spots" on the outer banks - most of them love to sound like they are experts (most are not!) - trust yourself, and you'll find waves!
