Zero, Chile has winter this time of year and Peru as well. All countries south of the Equator. They do get great surf, right?? A few months there would be a nice travel experience.
Agreed...however, I did have a fun session surfing with a bunch of groms yesterday...their stoke was so high and I had such a good time watching them paddle for everything...don't get to see much of that in winter...

It's such a relief to surf in my 3/2 rather than my 4/3 with layers underneath so I can stand the 40 degree water!!
I was out on Sunday in spring suit, that was nice. This winter was just so consistent and then summer hits. I would prefer the warmer weather and water, but also more waves. Oh well, it is what it is
I thought this winter (basically November - April) was one of the most mediocre in memory. Unless by consistent you mean consistently small and windy, in which case we agree . Between the four weeks of icy conditions, two months of sub-mid-30s water, and lack of any kind of sizable swells with offfshore winds, this past winter was among the worst since i moved to Bethany in 1987 and began surfing year around. Uggh. This past Sunday evening and Monday morning were super fun, along with the warmer water. There were even some fun nuggets last night.
I am, i'm just being whiny I was pretty happy wiht this winter, although not that sizeable, i did get out pretty often. I was out IRI, waves were doubling up really funky. It was still fun
My expectations every winter are at least a FEW northeaster storms that clean up with a W/NW wind, and then heading to OCMD for left hand barrels. I really dont care how often IRI gets a fun chest high wave, if OC doesnt produce that a-frame-to-left barrel after a few storms, then the winter was a disappointment for me.
Personally speaking, once the got damn snowpack melted up here, late winter came alive...I feel like every march weekend into early april was rideable to good, then went to sh!t.
Actually been pretty decent down here in vb so far. Been surfing twice a day in trunks or a thermal top the last couple days
