Yeah, the channels LOOK so cool, don't they? So technical!!
But they are functionless rail channels; they neither add or detract from any maneuver, etc. Pure marketing to rope in those who think they are "legit". That be you, along with lots of others; you are not alone.

edit--I also think they look cool.

it's for grabbing rail when you blast mercilessly above the lip and take flight, BRAHHHHHHHHHHH. you need, like, handles and what-not for severe shredding. for practical (my) purposes, it would be helpful when duckdiving.

Real surfers do not need channels. Marketing trick.

Dude like half the time my hands slip off to the sides and I faceplate on duck dives.

Ive never surfed one. Held quite a few. Doesn't seem like they would "go" for me.

Compared to my 2 eps epoxy boards, both 5'5'', it seems like all these normal PU poly boards are so heavy and draggy when I'm surfing them, and they last in good condition for just under a year it seems. I def would stick with EPS epoxy boards, alot more durable, don't get yellow, and they are really floaty and almost seem like they have pop off the lip.

It's for strength, but you'll also get a better grip for your duck dives.

The channels add flex to the board. I currently have 3 Stretch's and love them. Never had a little buddy but the skate and buzz saw are great boards for the east coast.

Great boards. Yes, the rail channels are great for duck diving on big days and the channels add flex. These boards almost feel like poly to me but they don't ding or rarely ding. He has quads dialed in better than other shapers and has been doing them forever. Try riding one and you will see. Or keep riding the poly board and keep printing on your dot matrix printer.

The channels offer no flex and do nothing but bring in customers who are clueless. Soryy, but it is true...
You have all been marketed into mindlessness........its your money, not mine!!
    hahahaha!!
