What is the "breaking point" for how much heat a board can take in your car? I recently had someone ask me......I told him he was fine but it got me thinking. I have always left boards in my car and had no problems but some fellers I know are all anal about taking boards out. Can anyone shed a bit more light on this?
I feel you bubonic, we use a truck so, all our boards are in the bed all the time, never had problems as far as that goes. When it comes to skateboards, thats a different story... I took out my board a few days ago and it had been sitting in my car for the morning, about 85 degree day, meaning my car, windows closed, must have been pushing 100 degrees at least, anyway, I go to drop in on a mini pipe at my local park, and the thing just folds and snaps when I hit the bottom. Thats annoying.
No way one day of heat did that to your board bruh unless it's super old and crusty Skateboards left in your car will warp slightly become mushy and loose their pop Boogz are mad sensitive though..leave your sponge exposed to the sun in your car today and you'll be needzing a new one tomorrow
Idk Jawn, it happened, maybe there had already been some pressure cracks... idk. Ya sponges and soft tops for sure, don't leave your beater in the sun
i had a board (about a year old) that i left in my car on a hot day. it was only about 80 that day but thats all it took for the entire deck to delam. board over.
Cars inside get to 140*F or greater on a 90*F day outside. Enough to kill children is enough to delam boards.
Dang Barry you needz more post retirement hobbies dawg Hey you ever try smokin' dust Ah man if you thought surfing 12 ft Puerto Rican was a crazy ride then you gotta try it bruh Ironically the best sources to get from are also Puerto Rican
Dude, seriously...if your wax is melting all over the inside of your car, wouldn't you want to take it out? It sure doesn't take much heat to make your wax melt.
Ok fellers. Let me clear one thing up. I know heat can damage a board and I keep a close eye on boards if they are in my car on a hot day. I was looking more for someone with concrete knowledge on the issue (Poly vs EPS) (what actually happens to the material in heat) (experiences) etc ...not just "Hey dude if its hot it might get damage"
Bubs there might be a lil nugget out there in the AM That is if you don't get wasted tonight In that case bring a gallons worth of bloddy Mary's to the beach dawg I'll be on the rocks at first light smokin' a doob
Having tinted windows helps keep the heat down inside. I try not to leave any board inside my vehicle, but I will if it's early morning and will be back before noon. Bad idea to do it at all, but sometimes you roll the dice if you need to.
pretty low. It may also be cumulative, but I eventually always get some sort of delam from leaving my poly boards in the car...in heats only enough to barely soften my wax! Windows cracked, towels shielding it from the sun or parked in shade...doesn't matter. The delam bubbles always happen on spider cracks or a fixed ding. good news is epoxy will not have this problem...wax will melt off, but board will be fine.
Me like smoking' lightining!! But I don't. Drugs are for chumps. And yes, you can greet dope from PR, always good. But not into it.
If it was I wouldn't be wasting my time on here. Too many assholes on this site, not to mention "uppity white" people.....
