What up? Hope all is Swell! Lots of surf the past couple of weeks huh? Not epic but rideable waves for days. Anyway, I had to post about Groms. I surfed some super fun waist-chest high waves last week (Thurs) with 4 or 5 youngsters. Man, I had one of the best days surfing in forever. I surfed 5 hours (3 and 2 hours sessions). These kids were out for at least 5 hours straight. I was the only elder out with them for the most part and was right in the middle of them trading waves all day. 1. So much stoke when you are a grom 2. So much energy These kids had me laughing, hooting, and surfing as hard as I could and it was a blast. Moral of the story is to live like your young again and if you are young enjoy it!!! -peace.
Well some groms can be arseholes. Watch for stickers on the board. But then again they are supposed to be arseholes if they have stickers on their boards, right. Ah youth man. !! F'ing A !! But yeah the pure reactions from newcomers can make you happy, if you are disposed to such things. Tell the truth, one of the most bestest feelings I have gotten from surfing in the past four years was watching some 8-year-old girl happily jumping over the whitewater. She was pretty stoked. Ah I used to be stoked......I need a new venue. MIS-13 I'm coming to live with you next October. I'll stick to Gums or something. Work my way up to Logs and Pipe. Shoot I might be rippin Rockies by December. You can be that board shaper to my Rick Kane.
...yea man, a change might do you some good! Good luck with the MIS hospitality...I responded to his EC thread about transitioning to the islands and staying with him for 30 days. Never got the confirm that the Futon was good to go! and yes I am disposed of such things...it was great. They all surfed well, with etiquette. #NOSTICKERS

In some weird way I still feel like a grom out in the water. It's the ones that take themselves too seriously that take the "grom" out of it.
Very True Q. That reminds me. That same day, there was a guy out near me and the groms getting frustrated...surfed very well but just seemed to have an edge about him. There were rays and black tips all over the place that day. When I got out and was watching the surf, I see that guy paddling in like he is late for work...next thing I know his face is like "oh sh?1!". A black tip was on his leash and he was on the beach frantic like a little grom...but not the happy kind!
