really dude?!!! lol.those are the same pesky sandsharks stealing all my bait.fuk those things, they are nothing to fear, when u reel in a baby tiger or a baby great white, then people should flock to u and make it go viral, but I catch bigger ones than that on a weekly basis and toss them back.they are nothing special, just bottom feeders, almost as bad as crabs, but atleast crabs taste good

never grab them by the tail, always grab them behind the head.u can snap their spine very easily like that by grabbing their tail, plus he could bite u.and I wouldn't fuk around with a 4 footer lol,id just put my boot on his non existant neck, rip that hook out and kick him off the boat.the japs kill plenty of sharks,no need to continue their agenda

That tail grab happened when I was 14, I'm 49 now. Don't even touch them anymore, reach down with a metal hook around the shank of the fishhook, lift up at the hook while holding line down and they pop right off.

No coincidence that majority of the bites are within shouting distance of a pier.

These beach towns choose not to 'get it' but they're gonna have to choose who they prefer to have spending money in their towns & frolicking in the ocean: fishermen chumming off piers or bathers/surfers/swimmers.

im not dissing u hanna btw, rather the scared tourists lol.I could imagine,u probably pulled that thing from the water and the crowd turned to a scene from jaws screaming "sharkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!"lol...

next time hold it when the tourists come running up and let it slip out ur hand right next to the scared people.

lucky for me the only pier close to me is a long ways ahead.im in the part of jers before the jetties takeover.u have wide open sandy beaches, then it turns to groins and jettys, than 2 piers,an inlet, and some more open beach.

Won't surprise me when someone gets hit/bit at AI. Place was quite the scene with skimming dorsals today.

When I was younger surfing Avon pier, I remember distinctly leaving the water with my rash guard smelling like bunker. In 2001, I was in town for the deadly attack on a Russian tourist near the Avon pier. The distressed fish/bait combination is magnetic to predators. Ironically, I was gearing up today near IR, and go into a joking conversation about the prevalence of sharks this year.....Keep your toes up!

Are you sure they were shark dorsals? The only time I ever legitimately noticed a dorsal fin in the line up was surfing the Lighthouse on the banks. Even then, the water cleared and a few individuals on the beach concluded the fin was a bat ray.

I'd be curious to know if there was a graph/chart if all the east coasts attacks occurred at a certain tide, mid high mid low ,high etc or if just totall random
Where the attack was beach wise in location to nearest bay/river mouth, inlet
Also if all occurred with x yards of a pier ..or not..
Besides that something has changed somewhere there's either more sharks in the water looking for food or less food for the ones that are they.. Id favor the former
Sharks are either seeing or smelling something they maybe didn't before(reaching here but sunscreen scent changed?)
I am also in favor of lifting limits on Bulls sands there's really not that many that actively shark fish, would you if you can only keep 1 per boat per day? and those that do let me keep a few more won't hurt..

Rays breaking water at AI all day. 99% of "dorsal" sightings are the wings of rays as they sail through the water. Saw a group of beginner surfers freak and leave the water when 3 or 4 rays flipped their wing at the same time. Looked like a school of sharks and they just panicked. When I got out an hour later I saw them all still sitting on the beach with their boards on their knees watching the horizon.

Not surprised that people in the ocean are jumpy. Not surprised that people mistake rays for the underlord.

Pretty certain I know the diff between the underlord's dorsal & a solitary ray.

And unless Philippe Cousteau shows up (Jacques being long gone), well, he would be about the only one I'd trust spouting stats on what's what in the ocean.

What's happenin', fellers. Been way too long since I've been on here or in the water...

I keep seeing on the news man o' war washing up on Jerzy beaches.

Wondering if anyone has seen any on Delmarva.

Finally, going to get a chance to get in the water this week, hoping I'm filled with stoke and not frustration.
