Hey so my 6'2" channel island semi-pro was stolen off the beach at Indian River Inlet in DE. Please keep an eye out for it and if you see it message me. Thanks
have the conditions been good enough for a semi-pro? One would think whatever you drew on there would be a pretty good theft deterrent...but they'll probably just sand it off. Sorry, for your loss...expensive lesson.
The thief musta figgered you didn't want it because you'da taken better care of it if you did. I'd leave my infant son on the beach before my board.
not trying to sound crude, last sunday where I was at there was a surfboard and 2 sponges with towels lined up near the rockwall.there was nobody in sight, and if I wanted to take them im sure I could've gotten it off without a hitch, but im not a crackhead fukin thief, not how I roll.but some other people strollin by just stumble upon "free gear" with nobody in sight.theres been plenty of times like during winter il see wetsuits drying out in the open with nobody in sight, boards laying around.thats not a smart thing to do,theres a lot of thieves out there, keep it out of plain sight.shyt is expensive and it sucks to lose ur gear
sorry to hear about the theft. It should be known and told to all, that of all places on DelMarVa, IRI tends to have a on going issue in this regard. I suspect they are locals, with a habit. Or they just think it is funny,.. those type of people.
one of the first stories i was told up here was about a lax coach who left his bike during a hs practice behind a school, only to go back after practice to find that the bike was gone so i says, bein from "away" and all, "did the bike have a lock on it?" guy says, "no" so i says, "well then it's not really stolen" i know it's kind of a f'd up perspective, but ain't no thang as implied ownership - specially in the eyes of people who take unattended stuff anyway, sucks. but being suckered into a bike theft when me and my bro were less than 9 years old from our own backyard from some hoodrats (one of the guys was later shot and killed by some other hoodrats...so i guess you might have your karma comin for you eventually) straightened me right out lock yo sh!t & a 2 the k
This is my home break and I have never had this problem. But then again, I don't leave my $hit laying around for the option.
Where were you, Zero, when this went down? I don't know, lots of things happening around the tri-state area.. I would never know there is this problem with thefts, and more importantly, people LOSING their boards and wetsuites. Ah, sometimes I wish I was so casually oblivious. I mean forgetting your gloves on the hood is one thing..... I hope you reported this to local shops and check area Craiglist ads. They got to exchange it for cash to get the smack, unless their dealer surfs.
dead on. When I go to the beach, there's only a couple things to remember: don't lock my keys in the car and don't leave w/out my board & wetsuite...everything else is trivial.
I can tell ya where I wasn't, I wasn't getting my $hit stolen! Myself as well as others have taken 2 boards to IRI, leave one on the beach while you are out in the water. I'm not saying it never happens, but I have never had a problem with it. Now, with that said, if I do leave a board on the beach, I am within "catch yo a$$" distance to it and I pay attention to people lurking. Sounds like there is a little more to this story than bcl is letting on.
Seems fairly simple don't it Waterbaby? But apparently there's a lot of missing surf equipment..... ZERO, maybe this BCL guy sold his board for dope money and now this is part of the act so his parents won't find out?? I don't know. I never took Delaware people for thieves, of course besides certain communities in New Castle County.
Sorry for the loss man. I used to live in Norfolk (half hour from VB), went out for a morning surf and hurried back to get to class... Got all of the way to Norfolk and realized that in the process of taking my scuba suit off and getting in the truck i had left my board behind the car. I immediately turned around and headed back to the beach almost sure that ***** would be gone... Came around the corner... no board in sight. Looked a little more and found that somebody had stashed it out of sight behind row of bushes... Somebody was looking out for me that day. Also... While i lived in Norfolk i used to leave my board in my jeep all the time. Anyway, somebody smashed my driver side window and broke into my car. Stole my IPod touch (pretty sweet tech at the time). They didn't want the surfboard for some reason though... wounder why...
